"Hey, where's Alex? I never saw him last night, and I haven't seen head nor tail of him since yesterday at 5." His mom said, slicing her soft pancakes

"Ah... he's upstairs. He's sick, so he can't go to school. I gave him some medicine yesterday night, so he'll be fine." Baptiste said, lying easily and fluidly.

She smacked his head, and sighed "You're not as slick as you think. I'm your mother, I know when you lie. Better spout the truth"

"Fine! He's bailing school today." He said, sticking his tongue out at his mother. Technically, it was true.

"Alex? Staying from school?" She said,.droppeing her fork "There must be something wrong"

"I think Franco's been stressing him out, is all." Baptiste said, feeling the bruises along his side and remembering all of that.

She simply modded, picking up her fork

"Well, we should take him out today. It's not often Alex is home. Where do you think?"

"Erm, I'm not exactly sure, he never really talks about his interests or antyhing."

"Well, then we'll take him someplace we think he might enjoy" His mother said, finishing her food. She wiped her mouth with a napkin, and stood up. At that instance, Alex walked in with his normal expression on

Baptiste saw Alex and smiled lightly at him. "Morning," he said, placing his plate in the sink.

Alex gave him a quiet kiss when thier mom wasn't looking, an eye on her while she did the dishes.

Baptiste blushed a deep red, but didn't make any noises.

He placed a hand on Baptiste's cheek, kissing a bit deeper

Baptiste leaned into the kiss, enjoying himself. At least this whole back-and-forth bulls--- had a few upsides.
