Kouri, in the meantime, was sleeping. Training was overrated, and it was especially warm today, which made her groggy.

Antauri was soon paged by the royal messenger and was told that the king needed him at once.

"Miss Kouri?" came a voice through the door. She got up and opened it, seeing the messenger looking up at her. "Um, the king needs your presence." "Thank you." she responded, taking her long strides towards the throne room.

Antauri came inside the castle and saw an ice knight approaching at the same time he was. He said to her "Hello there. I am Antauri, the greatest fire knight."

"... I am Kouri. The greatest ice knight." She tensed up upon seeing him. What was a fire kingdom resident doing here?

The door to the king's throne opened and both knights were beckoned inside. -

Kouri stepped forward with a creased brow and an uncomfortable look. Having this firey trash in her kingdom was not her idea of a pleasant afternoon. -

Antauri came in and bowed before the king. The king said "I am in need of your services. You two are the best knights in all the land and that is why I called you here." -
"I appreciate the compliment, sire. What seems to be the issue?" Kouri said in her usual, deadpan voice.

"My fiendish brother is at it again. He's after the Eye of the Dragon, an amulet that can grant anyone's wishes." said the king.

Kouri tightened her grip on her sword. "That's most undesirable." She hissed.

Antauri said "Don't worry, my king. I will stop him before he can get his mitts on it." The king said "I appreciate your willingness to help, but I called you both here to work together on his mission."

Kouri glanced at the fire knight. While he did look powerful, she was unwilling to work with someone like him. "With all due respect, sire, I work much better alone."

The king said "I'm afraid you don't have a choice. This task is too great for one lone knight to take on their own. You need help."

Kouri nodded and stepped back, but didn't like this one bit.
