(I have a cat named Shadow! :o)
As Aifi made his way to the foot of the steps, he heard someone exiting a room. The demon slowly looked up and met his eyes with a girl's. A cold grin fell over his face. Even if Damien hadn't told him what she looked like, he knew that the girl was Ariel. He could feel Damien's presence lingering around her. As Aifi lowered his cloak so Ariel could see him, a burst of cold air emitted from the cloak and spread through the room. It was cold enough that if she exhaled, she'd see her own breath in the air. Leaning against the rail, Aifi said, "It's lovely to meet you, miss. I've heard so little about you, yet I can't wait to learn myself." Suddenly, in the blink of an eye, he was right in front of her. He pulled her close, brushing her hair behind an ear. He slowly leaned down, whispering in her ear. "Damien sends his regards. I'm sure you were disappointed to miss my summoning." -
(Same here O.O)
Ariel looked at the male that was in front of her with shock. He felt like death and the aura about him spelled trouble. "B-But the spell didn't work. No on appeared." she said, her voice shaking as goosebumps traveled down her spine. Even though she did have the jacket on, it still felt freezing cold. "M-might I ask why you are here?" she said, thoughts racing around in her mind faster than she could comprehend. -
Aifi released her as quickly as he had grabbed her, adjusting his coat and glancing at her from the corner of his eye. "Oh, the spell did work. I had been busy reading, that's all. It appears that your millennium does not understand the virtue of patience." The demon snorted, turning back to her and staring directly into her eyes. He could sense the fear emitting from within her. "I was told that you were not very nice to young Damien at times. I've been asked to take care of you. But here's the thing, I haven't decided what to do." He straightened himself up, tapping his chin. "See, I could kill you, but that's just so dull! And there's doing some memory wiping, or something of the sort, but I want to see spilled blood. What do you think is a worthy punishment, young lady?"
-
Ariel looked at him, her face slowly draining of color. "Y-you can't be serious.." she said looking at him, a glimmer of hope somewhere in her eyes that he was lying. She couldn't imagine Damien wanting to hurt her, or anyone else for that matter. He was always nice and never angry. "You h-have to be lying." Now Ariel was shaking terribly. She didn't want to die. Not here, not now.
-
Aifi sighed, rolling his eyes. In a mocking tone, he responded, "I am totally serious." The demon reached over for her wrist, latching onto her with an iron grip. "I think I'm going to torture you. If this is your reaction to a few words, imagine the screams you'll make if I tear into your skin. Oh, humans, they are just so lovely!" Humming to himself, Aifi began to drag her into her room, a small spring into his step. Suddenly, he gasped, his eyes lighting up. "Say, I forgot to mention.. If you do scream, no one can hear you. We're in a.. Blanket, of sorts. Unless I want someone to see and hear you, it'll be as if no one is in your room. Exciting, right?"
-
"N-no.." she said, the reality of the situation finally hitting her. She tried to pull her wrist away from his, but it was no use. She was tempted to scream for help, but it wouldn't help. Her mind was racing, then she had a last second bright idea. Ariel grinned for a split second, then pulled her fist back and punched him in the nose. It didn't seem to do anything and her heart fell. It seemed like she was never going to get out of this situation. The only thing she didn't understand, was why Damien chose her. Out of all people he met, why her.
-
Aifi mimicked her voice, a faked version of fear on his face. He released her long enough to throw his hands in the air and shriek, "No!" He quickly regained his posture, laughing to himself. His laugh was deep, a lace of his otherworldly side within it. However, as soon as he had done that, the girl threw a good punch to his face. He took a step back, not from panic or pain, but due to slight shock that the girl had even attempted such. He stared at her, confusion clear in his eyes. "You.. Tried to punch me, the great Aifiular? My, my, girly. You are asking for a world of pain."
-
After listening to what Aifi said, her heart hammered in her chest, but she made a split second decision. She wasn't going down without a fight. "Okay tough guy." she said, gritting her teeth together, realizing that Aifi hadn't grabbed her wrist again and she bolted down the stairs and ran out toward the park. She started to breath heavy as she realized he was gaining on her. She shook her head and pushed herself to run faster until she reached the middle of the park and hid behind a statue.
-
The demon stood still for a moment as the girl began to run away from him. When had he released his grip on her? He had no time to bother to remember when, though. His barrier had only been built around the house. It wasn't made to seal her in. If she found anyone at the park, Aifi would be in trouble. Of course, no one would believe her if she claimed a demon was chasing her, but his new contractor wanted something to be done. He couldn't wait. Closing his eyes, the demon brought the girl's face to mind and located where she was specifically. Holding the image close, he opened a portal and stepped through. He arrived in the middle of the park, but Ariel was nowhere in sight. Irritated, the demon hissed, "You can run, but it won't change the fact your fate is sealed. All this is doing is making me angry, Ariel."
-
Ariel shivered. She could here his voice, but she didn't dare to breathe. Why had Damien chosen her for this fate? Why not some of the people that actually bothered him? "Maybe if I could make it to his house...I could prove that I deserve to live." she muttered, looking down at her hands. She kept clenching and unclinching her fiats, but it didn't help that there was a blood thirsty demon after her. She looked up for a slight second and spotted someone else walking in the park. She grinned and stood up quietly. Maybe this was a savior in disguise. Ariel looked back and noticed Aifi turn around quickly and she started to run faster toward the person, but it looked like she wouldn't make it in time.
-
Aifi knew that if he wanted to, he could have easily grabbed the girl without a problem. Or could he? The demon had been stuck in the depths of hell for more than a century. It was hard to remember his limits when it came to his own power. Through his thinking, he noticed movement out of the corner of his eye. It was Ariel. And.. She was running to another human. Cursing, he chased after her, his coat flying behind him. She was slower than him, he could make it. He knew he could-- Not. Hissing in an ancient language, the demon cloaked himself in the night, watching Ariel carefully. This human body of his wasn't used to so much running. He would have to wait and see what she did.
-
Ariel looked behind her, and noticed the demon had disappeared. She looked at the person in front of her and paused. Maybe this had been one big hallucination, and she just needed to go back home and get some sleep. Anyway, she was there when Damien tried to summon the "demon" and nothing appeared. She sighed and started to make her way back home, this time using a different path. She tried to keep an eye on everything around her, but now she was tired, and her vision was blurring. Maybe the effects of something she did earlier was bothering her. She didn't know, but what she did know, is she needed some sleep.
-
Aifi smirked triumphantly when the girl decided to walk away from the other human. Stupid mortal. As she walked down a path, he followed, careful to keep his cloak up. This was going to be the last day of her life, after all. He might as well allow her to believe nothing was going to happen to her. On the other side, she was swaying, as if she was going to pass out right there. He wondered if she'd fall over soon. Whistling to himself, he walked up in front of her, putting out his leg. He let his cloak down, smiling to her. "Don't trip, Ariel," he said gleefully.
-
Ariel looked up at him, stumbling backwards slightly. "N-no. This has to be a dream, and any moment now, I'm going to wake up, and everything is going to be fine and dandy." she said, looking at him, but slowly backing away. Regardless of what her mind was trying to tell her she knew this wasn't a dream and somehow she had to get out of here, and fast. She turned around quickly and started to run, hoping to catch up with the person that she saw before, but they were nowhere to be found this time. Her heart started to race faster and faster, and she paused, her legs folding underneath her from sheer exhaustion. Whether she liked it or not, she was going to have to surrender, but when Damien joined the fateful after-life, she was going to make it a living hell for him.
-
Aifi listened to the girl deny her fate. He shrugged at her explanation, glancing at the sky. It was dark now, with stars lining the sky. "This isn't a dream. I don't think you're creative enough to think someone like me up-- Hey, that's rude." Ariel had started running away again. Irritated, the demon phased beside her, reaching out for her arm. He latched onto her with the same powerful grip as before. Aifi pulled her in front of him, staring at her. His eyes were now a dark red, and his seemingly playful demeanor was gone. He was full of irritation and fury. Keeping his voice low, he said, "You are such a pain in the ass. I wish Damien had told me about this earlier."
