C1 never knew what they were, they thought they were just a normal kid with overprotective parents, their parents never let them go anywhere alone and they were home schooled. When their parents died trying to protect them from some men in suits those men in suits took them to an orphanage where they found out that they aren't quite human. When they meet C2 they fall in love with them.
C2 always knew they weren't quite human, and they love it, but they were never let around other kids and never developed any social skills and they don't know anything about what most people like, so when their parents die in a car crash and they're sent to an orphanage for kids who aren't quite human they try not to socialize, and they are completely oblivious to the fact that C1 has a crush on them, and unfortunately for C1 they are asexual aromantic meaning they wont love C1 romantically, ever.
C3's father died before they were born and their mother died in childbirth, so they never knew their parents and they have lived their entire life at the orphanage, they are very social and friendly and have lots of friends, and they are dating C4.
C4's parents died when they were a little kid so they have lived at the orphanage for most of their life, they have always been shy and still are, when they met C3 they became best friends and when they got older they started dating.
When C1 and C2 arrive at the orphanage C3 and C4 are told to show them around and they become friends, kind of. When they arrive at the orphanage C1 realizes that this isn't an ordinary orphanage, it's an orphanage for kids who aren't quite human, meaning they aren't quite human, and at the orphanage they will learn how to use their powers. Now, C4 and C3 never questioned the strange things that happen at the orphanage, but when C1 and C2 begin to point out how certain things just don't add up the four of them realize that this orphanage may not be what it seems to be.
Starts when C1 and C2 arrive at the orphanage.

They all have to look mostly human but only C1 has to look completely human, except for maybe their eyes, those can be somewhat weird.

How about a love triangle where C1 has a crush on C4? Then if something happens with C4 and C3 (which normally happens in teen relationships. Especially with childhood friends.) C4 has C1.
