Jade was a talented swimmer. She did whale flips, dolphin dives and underwater backflips. She noticed that Daniel was watching, and decided to stop showing off in case it gave off a bad vibe. She noticed he wasn't swimming much, so she returned to the idea of a splash fight. "Hey, wanna have a splash fight?" Jade asked Daniel, forgetting all her previous shyness.
-
"What's a splash fight?" Daniel asked, acting clueless. The moment she fell for it, he splashed her and swam away.
-
Jade's face twisted into a mischievous grin. She slipped into the water and, mid-backflip, she began waving her arms frantically. Then, she lay motionless at the bottom of the pool... She was sure she could fool Daniel if he could fool her; she was the queen of pranks.
-
Daniel knew she was a ghost. So since she was a ghost she couldn't drown. Right? Or were the rules different in Ghost town? Daniel didn't want to risk it. So he held his breath and swam down to get her.
-
Jade's eyes were still open a tiny slit. She saw Daniel coming, and swam to the surface, her arm ready to create a tidal wave.
-
Daniel saw her swim up and he swam up too. He felt embarrassed that she was merely tricking him. And embarrass that he tried to save her. He was so afraid of risking her life that he didn't realize. No matter where you are, you can't die... when you're already dead...
-
Jade skimmed her arm above the surface of the water. She created a huge tidal wave, and people behind Daniel started muttering and groaning. She noticed she had caught Quinten too, and she hoped that he wouldn't be brought into the splash fight.
-
Quinten laughed! He was just about to turn the pool upside down, when a life gaurd kicked them out. Apparently tidal waves, wool pools, hurricanes, and other disasters in the pool weren't allowed. "Who knew!" Quinten laughed twenty minutes later as they walked down the street.
-
Jade wasn't laughing. She was really annoyed and grumpy. There were no signs up indicating such rules, and she didn't even get a warning. Before they left, she wanted to shout all this at the life guard, but she decided against it.
Walking down the street, Jade's hair was still a little wet, but it was drying off in the bright sun. She cheered up a little and suggested getting an ice cream from the store down the street. -
"I'd love that! I literally haven't had ice cream in years!" Quinten cheered. Daniel laughed as he raced them to the store.
-
Jade watched the two boys race down the road. She wondered if she could turn invisible in Ghost Town. She hadn't tried it for a while, but she gave it a go. It worked, and she slipped through the door just before it closed. She turned visible again, and watched contentedly as the boys discussed ice cream flavors.
-
"I like watermelon." Daniel told the lady at the counter. She was about Quinten's age. "She's pretty huh?" Daniel whispered to Jade to see her reaction. The ice cream lady didn't hear as she asked "Watermelon for ice cream?" "Yes mam!" Daniel replied.
-
Jade blinked, subconsciously irritated that Daniel was showing interest in another girl. She looked at the girl behind the ice cream counter, and she WAS pretty. She filled with undeniable jealousy and asked for a strawberry ice cream. Her voice came out colder than she expected.
-
Daniel raised an eyebrow in interest to Marie's reaction. That could mean something. He thought, smiling as they sat down with their ice cream. Quinten was still at the counter trying to decide a flavor. "Cookie dough... Cotten candy... bubble gum... caramel apple... Oreo... You know what... You can never go wrong with old fashioned vanilla!" He decided.
-
Jade shifted a few inches closer to Daniel, pretending to make space for Quinten. She licked her ice cream, and she noticed that the ice cream had no real taste or texture. She slumped down like a deflated balloon and continued to lick.
