In the dark grim future, there is only war.
This is the story of a new chapter. The story of the Emperor.
The story...
Of mankind.
This story takes place in the 41st century, a time where war is unavoidable. Tyranids are running amok and spreading their disgusting and vile species across the world and to other planets, orcs are causing mischief and mayhem everywhere they go, and terminators are eradicating all resistances they come across. This is the dark age, the fall of mankind.
But there is hope. By the name of the Emperor, the one who guides all that believe in him and his righteous name, there is most definitely hope. In good will, the Emperor has spread out his knowledge, his wisdom, and his passion into three space marines, who will be known as the Emperors Sons. These three soldiers, although seemingly unlikely, will be the ones who change the tides of war in the humans favor. But this task will not be easy, oh no. For war is no game to be played, but to be overcome and reflected upon for the future.
So go fourth, Son of the Emperor. Fufill your destiny, by the name of the greatest man on earth, no, the galaxy! In the name...
OF THE EMPEROR!

Okay, here are some factions you can choose to come from. Note that you may choose to create your own faction if you wish, these are just already existing ones with a backstory already behind them.
Salamanders: The Salamanders are one of the First Founding Space Marine Chapters in Warhammer 40,000. They are known for their love of flamer and melta weapons, preference for close-quarters combat, complete unwillingness to retreat or surrender and being fairly nice guys by space marine standards. They are also arguably the most s----upon Chapter fluff-wise, besides the Lamenters, Raven Guard, and Iron Hands. The chapter is named after the mythological fire-lizard of the same name.
Ultramarines: The Ultramarines are a chapter of Space Marines, probably the most famous and well-known (both within the Warhammer 40,000 universe and without). Games Workshop considers the Ultramarines their chapter of choice, and the Ultramarines represent the standard upon which most other Space Marine chapters are based. Why Games Workshop would want a Space Marine chapter whose symbol is a toilet seat upside down Omega () is beyond us. Maybe Rick Priestley was a Colts fan, who knows? Despite what canon has been trying to imply lately (see the intro to the CGI failmovie), the Ultramarines are not named so because they are 'ultra', as in, superior, 'marines'. Nope, they're called that because their Home sector is Ultramar, and the armour is ultramarine, which is a shade of blue. They have an easily recognizable blue-with-gold-trim colour scheme that's totally not like any other legion (technically that's only the second company but who ever heard of an ultramarine player not painting his army blue and gold) - the blue colouration, coupled with the small size of the minis, has lead them to be nicknamed "Smurfs" by some. The Ultramarines, perhaps more than any other imperial faction, draw inspiration from ancient Rome.
Blood Angles:
The Blood Angels were the 9th Space Marine Legion created by the Emperor. They are so named because of their tendency to use blood as a central symbol of their particular warrior-monk rituals, and because of their susceptibility to the Red Thirst, a wild bloodlust that arises in them during battle. If he fails to control his Red Thirst, a Blood Angel may succumb to the Black Rage (the Grimdarkest of Daddy Issues), after which he becomes a completely insane killing machine with no regard for his own safety who will try to destroy the Emperor's foes even if all he has left is a bloody stump of one leg. This has led to the Blood Angels being viewed as basically vampires IN SPEHSS, and unfortunately as the Team Edward to the Space Wolves' Team Jacob. If you are not already completely indignant, see the second image at the bottom of the page for additional rage. We'll wait. ...Yeah, how much does that blow? Here's the good news, though: that's pretty much the only thing that sucks about the Blood Angels. Everything else is awesome apart maybe from 'nipple' armour, but the rest is all cool, angelic and bloody and all.
Space Wolves: The Space Wolves are a Chapter of Viking Space Marines and the non-Chaotic 40K counterparts to the Warriors of Chaos, and are as manly as the Angry Marines are angry. Also, they like wolves, in case you couldn't figure it out from the f---ing name. Extremely Nordic, very melee oriented, and perpetually drunk/feasting/chasing b----es and of course beating the living hell out of anything that they don't like, real or otherwise. They would probably get along with Khrn, who really is a nice guy, but they're still pissed off over the whole betrayal thing, and they'd probably get along pretty well with World Eaters and followers of Khorne in general, were it not for the whole betrayal thing again keeping them from what would likely be a successful relationship (also the lack of wolves). Probably more amiable towards the Angry Marines, whom the Space Wolves get many good ideas for insults from (but no wolves). Presently, they refuse to acknowledge the Pretty Marines as an actual chapter for undisclosed, yet obvious reasons.
Black Templars: The Black Templars are a Second Founding Space Marine Chapter of the Imperial Fists. These Space Marines are as manly as the Manly Marines and as angry as the Angry Marines. They make a hobby of dressing up as the Teutonic Order and trolling the inquisition with their larger-than-Codex-approved numbers. They're righteously angry for the Emperor, they're usually close combat focussed and their idea of a charge is a giant zerg rush of a hundred angry crusaders who won't hesitate to skullf--- the nearest alien/mutant/heretic with their powersword just because they look funny. Although they don't need swords that much...
tl;dr MOTHERf---ING TEUTONIC KNIGHTS IN SPACE !
Imperial Fists: The Imperial Fists are a First Founding chapter of yellow guys. Descended from Rogal Dorn, they are the forefathers of the blue guys with red hands, as well as the in-game Angry Marines. Sometimes they get together with their successors and have a sword fighting tournament. They aren't as angry as the Angry Marines (close though), but they get the s--- done. Unlike some people.
Basically they're the true Vanilla Marines, albeit the most badass vanilla marines ever. Probably best represented on the table top by IA: 10's Siege Assault Vanguard list, since it includes most codex space marine options, plus additional siege-y stuff.
White Scars: The White Scars are a Chapter of Space Marines that are basically Mongols in Power Armor and on bikes, in contrast to the Space Vikings of the Space Wolves and Space Vampires of the Blood Angels. Their Primarch was known as Jaghatai Khan. Their requisite one-trick-pony is hit-and-run attacks, which they do on those sweet bikes of theirs.
There are probably more factions that I can recall, but this is a decent majority of them. If you want to know more about them and their history, you can look them up. And trust me, they all have A LOT of history.

Name: FreeBringer McDunvar
Age: 35
Gender: Male
Faction: Lucky Clubs
Brief faction history: The Lucky Clubs are a branch of Salamanders who partake in the same beliefs and such, but are of Irish Inheritance and value gold highly, ignoring the fact that gold is mostly just used to glorify armor in these times.
Armor:
Armor color scheme: All soldiers of the Lucky Club chapter boast colors of mainly green with orange outlines and such and white lines here and there. Their left shoulder guards have a golden horse shoe on them with the number 7 somewhere in either orange, gold, or orange with a white outline.
Personality: McDunvar is a very well known man in the Lucky Clubs corps for his skill with a Melta rifle. Although he may be low in ranks, he still gets high marks for his marksmanship skills. He is stationed in the 3rd squadron, often dropped from ships for support when the main attack squad is in need of more troops.
Weapon: Melta Rifle
