Alan was walking in a coastal touristy area in Virginia Beach. The district was full of tourists and vacationers, and he wasn't sure where to find Her. The person he was looking for was Lisa, his younger sister. She had convinced him and their mother to let her go to Virginia. Lisa was twelve, and still thought she could run off by herself. God knows how their mother would react if she went missing. "Dammit, dammit, dammit.." Alan muttered under his breath, glancing into every souvenir and clothes shop.
Lisa was happily walking amongst a large crowd, seemingly unaware that her brother lost her. While she was window shopping, Lisa found a shirt she found amazing. After shuffling through the crowd, she made it to the gift shop. -
Eileen was working behind the counter of a gift shop. She was still in college so this was a temporary job until she graduated at the end of the semester. She was getting her degree in composing and dance, wanting to maybe open her own dance studio one day, or at least teach dance. She looked up as a little blonde girl came into the store.
-
Lisa, completely ignoring the shirts she was initially drawn to, beelined towards the little trinkets lining clothing rack. They were all pencil holders with garage sale tags on them, but hell if Lisa didn't find them mesmerizing. The two she looked between the most were fish themed. The first one was almost cone shaped, if it wasn't for the indent to hold pencils, and the other looked more like a bar, with also having only enough room to hold one pencil. The two pencil holders were made with clear plastic, so you could see the cavity within them. Both had water in it, plus some blue substance that stuck around the bottom of the holder. There was two fish each in both souvenirs, and some sort of decoration in it. The rectangle had an island emerging from the blue, and the other had some sort of coral in It. The two fish were laying just on the blue substance, and Lisa loved it. Unable to pick, she picked the two up and brought them to the counter. "What's your professional opinion on these? Which is better?" Lisa asked the woman behind the register.
"Lissa? Lissa!" Alan started calling from the walking area, hoping she could hear him, from wherever she was. He looked around, hoping to see her around the restaurants across the street. Unfortunately for him, she wasn't to be seen there. "Ma's gonna kill me..." Alan groaned in frustration, continuing his search. -
Eileen smiled brightly at the small girl and lean in to see the trinkets better. Her eyes combed over them both and she decided. "Well, I like the cylinder one. Holds more pencils and the coral is prettier." She said to her with a smile. "Are you here alne?" she asked looking around the store for the girls parents. The girl couldn't be more than eleven or twelve and certainly shouldn't be out by herself.
-
"My brother's somewhere," Lisa said nonchalantly. "He'll find me eventually. Thanks for helping me choose." She nodded and smiled before going to put the rectangle back. She walked back and went to stand beside the counter.
Alan continued his search for his sister. -
Eileen watched the girl. She shruged lightly and checked the time. Oh good, her shift was over. She streched and stood up, telling her co-worker to take over now. She didn't really have any plans for that night, probably just some studying and then bed. She looked over and saw that the girl was standing by the counter, so she went over to her. "Mind if I hang with you until your brother gets here?" she asked the girl, smiling.
-
Lisa shrugged. "Sure, you work here." She looked around the small shop before asking. "Um, what's your name? I'm Lisa."
-
Eileen smiled. "That's a pretty name. I'm Eileen. Its nice to meet you"
