I'll start.
Cassian walked through a trail in the woods. He jumped at every little noise. His own family- he felt angry to even call them "family", they didn't deserve the title- had cast him out. Cassian had still been living with his family at that point, the court required him to stay with him due to his "mental state." Cassian really didn't understand why his "mental state" was so bad. He was just different from the rest of them, couldn't they understand? His mom and dad had wanted to have a "calm discussion" with him about the way he woke up screaming in the middle of the night.
"We would like you to do whatever you can to stop it." His mom said, holding her hand in her husband's.
"What do you want me to do!" He had yelled, feeling offended. He felt like they were out to hurt them.
"Now, now, Cassian, it's fine. We just want the best for you."
"No! You just help me because you think it's the right thing to do! Otherwise, the court would judge you and you would lose such your popular status." He screamed, grabbing his chair and throwing it at the ground, the wood splintering and cracking. His mother had jumped. Cassian liked the look of fear on her face. It satisfied him.
"Cassian, I will not be disrespected-"
"And I'm the one being disrespectful? Stop turning things on me! It's not fair!"
"We would just like you to-"
"I don't care what you would like me to do! I am hurting every day and you do nothing about it except ask me to change it! I can't help the way I am!"
"I know that, Cass, and I fully understand-"
"Do you?! Do you know how it feels to lose everyone you love in your life, drift away day after day, feel ignored every waking moment, and be stuck home every time you go out because my behavior is "extremely aggressive and inappropriate for society"?!" After that, Cassian's dad, who had been silent, had asked him to leave. Cassian got the hint. He was a bother. He was unwanted. That's how people like them were. No one understood. Everyone ignored him. Everyone hated him. He sunk into that dark place again. Cassian felt at home. -
