She rolled her eyes, tugging off the flannel shirt. "Yeah, silly. That's how it works around here. We.. Take humans, keep them as slaves, toys, or just to have company." She twisted a peice of hair around her finger, thinking for a moment. "But don't worry- I'll keep you as a.. Well, not exactly like a pet. Besides you need to loosen up, you're attracting attention outside of the house."
-
Landon narrowed his eyes and glared at the girl. "I'm leaving. I'm not staying here as your "pet." He turned on his heel, walking towards the door they had entered in.
-
The corner of her mouth twitched as she twisted another peice of hair around her finger. "It can only be opened by my finger of a key, which you don't have access to either.
-
Landon ignored her and walked up to the door, placing his finger on the device. Nothing happened. He tried again, pressing his finger harder against the screen. Nothing. Landon turned around and looked at the girl. "You c-can't keep me in here!"
-
Or* not of
"Yes I can. I'm the Princess of the Shade. Basically ruler while my parents are on vacation." She got up and went to the device, eyeing it. "You're fresh meat, Landon. One step out there, and you're dead." She said softly. -
"I would rather be dead then locked in here with you!" Even when Landon was upset, his voice ws soft and quite, like an innocent childs' voice. "Bloody hell.."
-
Hazel chuckled, blinking slowly with those thick, long eyelashes. "I've never done anything to you, but I'll make you a deal. If I let you out, and you survive for about a day, without the whole time, I'll let you go."
-
Landon thought it over and nodded quickly. He just wanted to leave this crazy place, wake up from this horrid dream.
-
"But Landon, if anything happens, I'll be around." She gave him a wink before pressing her finger to the screen, making the door swing open. "Just know, you're at risk here, not me." Of course, she wouldn't just let him go. She had a plan.
-
Landon didn't really care what she had to say and sprinted out the door as soon as it opened. He was a fast runner, of course, he was a futbol player or as Americans called it, soccer. Thinking of soccer made him remember his Variety Jacket he had worked so hard for and lost, listening to the girl from the beach. It's all her fault! He continue sprinting, looking from left to right.
-
Hazel Immediately grabbed her board, locked the door, and jogged out before catching sight of the boy. She set the board down and followed him, staying a few blocks back, hiding in the noise of people about. Surely someone would snatch him in moments.
-
Landon weaved around people, elbowing and shoving, trying to get through the giant mass of people.
-
The city was lit with only lampposts, a stary sky above. Hazel frowned as she saw a rather large man grab Landon's arm that was being used to shove. She kept her speed on her board, following the two as he tugged him off to the side.
There was no way off the island, only portals. A large, Moss covered, stone wall barricaded the island from intruders. Little did Landon know, he wouldn't be able to escape. -
Landon yelped when the man grabbed his arm. "S-Stop!" He cried, trying to pull away from thr tight grip and the man pulled him to the side.
-
"You're the one asking for trouble, punk." He snarled, pulling him farther into the alley. Dark, swirling designs were inked onto his bare, muscular arms- runes that spoke of evil. Hazel narrowed her eyes at the two, picking up her board, holding it in her hands by her waist. "Back off, Ray. He's mine." The man didn't bother turning around. "You wanna get hurt too, punk?" Hazel chuckled. "I guess, since you're willing to hurt princess of The Shade." Ray immediately let go of the boy, backing up.
