A few minutes later, Mona walked into the living room carrying two small bowls of salad. She set them both down on the glass coffee table and slid down next to him, digging in. In between bites Mona spoke to him. "There's a new neighbor in the house next to use." She said staring at Landon, waiting for a reaction. "He seems a bit older than you. He's sorta odd. Stays indoors, closes the blinds.." Landon pushed his salad around in his bowl and frowned. "Maybe he's just grumpy."

It was closer to evening, so, Allen supposed he could risk opening the door for the only living family member he had left. Setting the can and knife down, he brushed his grime covered hands off, heading towards the hall. The door was already shaking with the force of the women's knocks by the time he got there, and Allen had to plaster on a very fake smile as he opened the door, cringing at the hinges cries of protest. "Hi, Aunt Carol? What- ..Okay." He stopped talking once she pushed past him, and into the hall, putting her hands on her hips, flipping on the lights. Allen shuddered, shutting the door, as she began talking. "Why's it so dark in here, child? You'd like to be a vampire, I think."
-
Mona shrugged and shoved another piece of lettuce into her mouthy. "Maybe. Or maybe he's a vampire." Mona laughed loudly, punching Landon's shoulder. Landon had always been deathly terrified of two things; heights and vampires.Thought Mona didn't tease him about the heights fear, she sure did tease him about the vampire one. Landon shook his head and ate his salad in silence, jumping at every little sound and move movement, causing Mona to double double over in laughter everytime.

Allen went behind her as she turned every single light in the house on, slowly growing agitated. "I really would rather have most of them off, Aunt Carol. You're wasting-" She cut him off with a laugh. "We're not in the stone age, boy! We have electricity. Use it! Oh, and why is the house so bare? You really needs some couches.. And rugs.. Maybe a coffee table?" The boy could do nothing but inhale, close his eyes, and try to calm down. "Bright lights give me headaches, Aunt Carol."

Landon finally decided it was time to head off to bed when he was getting headaches from Mona's constant laughter. He got off of the couch and threw away the small plastic bowl and headed upstairs towards the small room he had claimed as his own. Cocoa followed him, and when Landon opened the door to his room the pug jumped on top of his bed and lied down. Landon's room was painted pure white. The carpet was white, as well as the small desk in the corner and his bed. A large flat screen was hung up on the wall facing his bed.
