As Harry listened, he figured that this story must get old after a while. The guy, Paul, seemed very practiced in telling it, which meant that the repeat visitors to the group must have heard him tell them about his balls at every single meeting , and Harry couldn't imagine himself being able to stand that.
Finally, the man was done with his story, and then he was glaring around the room. His hand lifted, and he pointed at Niall, who agreed with a "Yep." He sat a little differently in his chair, then started. "So I'm Niall. I'm seventeen. I've got this rare eye cancer and it looks like I have to get surgery in a couple weeks, and then I'll be blind. I know a lot of people have it worse so I'm not complaining, but you know. Being blind'll suck. But I've got my girlfriend, and she helps, and it's great to have friends like Harry." His voice raised as he progressed on, until he was almost shouting when he turned and grinned towards Harry.
After Niall was (lol why not sorry not sorry) Calum. Calum was twelve, he had leukemia, and he said he was doing great. Then it was Taylor, who said she was in a long remission from appendiceal cancer, and that she felt 'strong', which felt like a questionable word choice to Harry.
Then, finally, it was his turn. Harry smiled a little, then spoke up. "My name is Harry Styles. I'm seventeen. I had a touch of osteosarcoma a little more than a year ago, but today I'm just here because Niall wanted me to be." -
(so beautiful)
Louis politely listen to everybody's introductions, and he paid special attention to the boy who was now known to him as Harry. The corners of his lips were curled only a little bit. Osteosarcoma, huh? He wondered how bad the ordeal had been, if it had even hurt him like it could have. He nodded once the new information sunk in, and soon realized that it was his turn.
He waved to everyone, his introduction turning out to be short and sweet. "Hi, I'm Louis. I'm sixteen. Thyroid cancer along with some mets in my lungs. I'm pretty alright." He was quiet afterwards, glancing around the room once he had given his introduction. He snuck a few peeks at Harry every so often as Paul began speaking once more. -
So the boy's name was Louis. As Harry listened to him, he found the explanation for the oxygen tank. Not that he'd even noticed it that much in the first place. He listened intently, interested in the other's voice, the way he spoke, his very pointed way of giving information.
An hour went by rather plainly. People in the circle recounted little stories, described moments of triumph in battles within wars bound to be lost, and explained the difference between helpful friends and fake ones. Harry found no need to speak, as no one addressed him and he didn't want to but in. Eventually, he found himself either whispering comments to Niall, or looking at Louis. -
