The Mark was spreading, stretching and expanding upon a blank canvas of the universe. Ann heard a familiar voice from her younger days, and then she was swimming, surfacing into an endless void. Tentacles of brightest purple consumed stars. She took a tentative step, before the darkness receded into a familiar scene. Her kitchen.
Ann blinked again. At some point she'd keeled over, and there was something sticky and warm running down her face. Pulling herself upright again, Ann quickly withdrew a small handkerchief and wiped her face. "Wait wait wait, you're doing it again Jason! What person? I was told we were taking care of the One because they themselves were dangerous. We're meant to help her control it, not turn her into a weapon! Who told you all this, why are we creating a human weapon?" -
Atemu grabed the rabbit and ran back
-
"She isn't human she's immortal like a goddess, Ann you want to stay alive, correct? So we have to train her or live in hell.....this person isn't anyone we defeated before this one is smart, he or she knows Angela very well which this person can use against her" Jason said as he chuckled. The flame now was bigger than before.
-
Ann placed her blooded cloth back into her pocket. She breathed deeply, trying her best to keep her composure. It was going well, until something bit her from behind. Through her leather jacket. Glancing over, Ann saw a flickering mess of smoke and colour.
"Oh, real mature." She commented, before slipping the entire thing off and throwing it on the ground. "Thanks for telling me about that Angela, by the way."
With her clothes slowly smouldering on the ground, Ann took another deep breath, "I didn't come here to turn someone into a weapon, Jason. I came here to protect someone against people who will use her as a weapon. Give me all the loaded questions you want, but I will not teach Angela to use her powers to destroy. There is always another way. There has to be. And I could find it if you just told me what I'm up against!" -
Atemu tilted his head as he walked out of the shadows
-
"Atemu, back me up here. Angela is not a weapon, it's our job to PROTECT her." Ann said, watching Atemu appear from the darkness. "Oh, and ignore the jacket, Jason thinks he's being clever."
-
"Ann this person will find Angela I'm trying my best to find out more about this person and what if this person finds angela, were all wounded and he or she then takes angela we will be unable to find her and she'll be trained by the time we find her location so what's worst training angela or let her destroy us all?" Jason said looking serious.
-
"I don't know which is worst, but I know what's best, protecting her. I won't let you turn her into a weapon like us. Fantasy is a force of creation, not destruction, and I won't let you besmirch its power like that. Whatever is after her, we can handle ourselves." Ann said, picking her jacket up off the floor. She bit her lip tightly, and spun around. "Are you sure there's no other way? No, no, we can hide her! If this person can't find her, everything is fine."
-
"I know it's our duty to protect her and by protecting her we have to train her.....you know what I'll make a deal with you if this person finds angela and if we escape we'll train her and if this person doesn't we'll hide from this person, deal?" Jason said as he sighed. He didn't like Ann's idea. Jason always thought that training will make you feel safe when you go up against an opponent.
-
Ann stared at Jason for a minute, before nodding. "Deal," she said. She didn't like Jason's idea, but she knew it was the closest she was going to get. Ann always thought that training dulled your conscience and made you more likely to seek out violence as an answer instead of a last resort. And to imagine someone with Fantasy without a conscience? Ann would rather kill herself.
And, to be honest, Ann was worried about a lot more than just conscience. What if Angela turned into someone like...well, like Ann?
Throwing her jacket back on, Ann turned to leave, stopping in front of Angela as she went, "I've got somewhere to be, so don't worry. Trust these two, I know I give them s---, but they're good people. They'll keep you safe. Don't let them fill your head with violence, there is always another way. We just need to put down our weapons to see it. If you need my help, just think really loudly. Someone nearby will hear it, probably." -
Atemu had been silent the whole time. He tilted his head and barked
-
Angela nodded. Once again she was daydreaming. She kept wondering what they were saying. Angela thought that they were boring than exciting.
"Ok Angela follow me I'll show you around the base" Jason said as he knelt down. He touched the ground making a portal appear. First a few black shadows appeared making a circle. Jason then stopped. "Sh-- they already found us!" Jason grabbed Angela's arm. He didn't have much time to make a portal. He used his fire element to make a shield around Angela. They then began running. -
Atemu growled "i will keep the back, you get her out of here!"
-
The Eiffel tower was framed against a setting sun. Ann was waiting, but she didn't know what for. A person approached her, and she recognized her as a child hood friend, but didn't know why. A gunshot, running feet, falling. Someone told her to calm her muscles as the ground sped forward.
Ann blinked. No blood this time. Well, that's an improvement, at least. Something dived out of the corner of her eyes, and Ann just sighed, "Stand still, idiot. Movement catches the eye, makes you noticeable. What you should do is stand still until I get bored and leave. Then you attack."
The shadow wormed its way back into her vision, making vague and none defined threats. Ann sighed again, "Are you really gonna fight me? Really?"
The shadow nodded, as best as a shadow can.
"Can I at least put my valuables down first?" Ann asked.
The shadow nodded again.
Carefully folding her jacket, removing her watch and wallet, removing her piercings and taking off her shoes, Ann stood forward. "Alright, come at me then. I'm busy." -
"ALREADY KNOW WHAT THE F--- TO DO, ATEMU!" Jason yelled. He then used his shadows to make a portal which took most of his energy. Jason and Angela walked through the portal. He quickly closed the portal and sighed. "Come on I'm teaching you just a few things to keep you safe" Jason said as he made the fire shield disappear.
Angela nodded. She wanted to at least protect herself when needed and not to rely on others to protect her.
