Name: Achille (meaning, in French and Italian, "he who embodies the grief of the people") Calvino of the Red Court
Wears: A red suit coat and pants, over a white dress shirt. Every morning he pins a fresh red rose to the lapel of his jacket, by order of his queen. He also wears black dress shoes.
Personality: A little more than just a little kooky, he is considered annoying and arguably mad by many people in the Red queen's court. They tease him constantly for this. He obeys the queen no matter what, for fear of punishment, but wants desperately to escape from the Red kingdom, to be with his friends.
Job: Serving the queen in whatever way she commands, like cleaning the floors, getting her refreshments, or shining her shoes. Anything, or else he'll be in deep trouble. -

Name: Elian (Welsh for "second, a moment in time") Jack of the White Court
Appearance: Shiny black hair with white tips, orange colored eyes, pale skin
Outfit: Something like this but white instead of black. He wears a white rose Monday through Thursday, a black rose on Friday, and a blood tainted white and black rose on Saturday and Sunday.
Personality: He's a little too perky and happy for someone who constantly fights and gets battle scars fighting for his queen, not to mention he's always smiling after an assassination. People say that his obsession for certain people makes him seem like an over-obsessive freak. He's very optimistic for someone so small~
Job: Fixing watches and clocks for her majesty as well as any passerby that want to be able to tell time once more. He does her majesty's paperwork, helps maids, and assassinates those who are guilty of not following her rules.

"Elian! I broke my watch, can you please come fix it?"
"Elian, I can't reach this bookshelf. Can you put these books up there for me~?"
"Elian, can you help me clean this floor?"
"Elian!" "Elian.." "ELIAN!"
Elian was running to and fro from room to room, his little tail bobbing up and down as he was called by several different people at the same time. He took the one servant's watch and fiddled with it as he balanced on a ladder and put books away. He cleaned the floor while helping one of the queen's personal performers remember their lines that were taken from something by a poet. By the time it was his break time, he was sweating in several places, and he felt like he was going to explode with the effort of merely thinking. I love my queen, but I don't love doing all of this for her subjects every day.. -
Achille, kneeling on the cold granite floor, held a rag between his two hands. In the middle of the twisted fabric, it was black with shoe shine, that he was working into the queen's black leather Janes with quick movements back and forth. He, unlike what he heard the white court subjects had, did not have a break besides sleep and eating. It was after dinnertime, by then, and as he shined her shoes the queen was giving him instruction.
"Tomorrow you are not to lose the fight," she stated.
"Well I think that's rather obvious your majesty!" Achille interrupted with a joking grin. It was wiped from his face when she smacked the top of his head with the apple she was eating.
"I'm talking, shut up. If you lose, you will be punished. You will receive no days off for any injuries."
Achille jittered at wanting to reply to her, but bit his tongue- literally- and continued his job of shining. -
oh you're so cruel
not the apple treatment :c
As Elian sat down on his bed to check his pocket watch, he heard a smooth, gentle flow of knocking at his door. Crossing his legs and sitting up, he said, "The door is open, your majesty. Please, do not worry about knocking. My door is always open for you."
His door flew open as the queen stepped into his room. He admired how graceful her movements were, how she could glide across the floor whether she was in a long flowing dress or if she was wearing normal clothing. She bowed to him, her lips forming a smile. He did the same- well, the best he could, anyways. He was sitting, after all.
"I've come to discuss the battle plans for tomorrow, my sweet rabbit," She cooed to him as she moved to his bedside. Elian watched her kneel beside his bed. She placed her hand on his leg, closing her eyes. "We've lost four times in a row now.. You understand that this does slightly upset me, yes, my white rabbit?" Her nails started to lightly stroke his leg, a sweet pattern making him want to drool with happiness. He muttered a soft 'yes' to her. -
"I don't care how you do it. But this year, you will win, really win. It's always the same thing now, an it's gotten rather boring that the fight never ends with a death." She bit the apple that he'd been hit with.
He blinked, slowly registering what she spoke of. "Your majesty, that is a count against me, that is my head for the death of a white queen subject--"
"If she chops off anyone's head just for killing a rabbit, well, it's simply because she dumb. Off, they're finished," she said, kicking her foot to move his hands away. Immediately, he stood, bowed, and went off to his room. -

"What weapon do you use every year? A spear?" She asked.
"Yes, your majesty," Elian responded. "I've used it every round."
"And do you think you wield it well?"
"Yes, your majesty."
"If you were to take in another weapon, what would it be?" The Queen opens her eyes, staring up at him from the ground. Elian frowned, as ear twitching. "I cannot, your majesty. The rules forbid me from taking in more than one weapon--" "That is not what I asked, Elian. If you were to take in another weapon, what would it be?"
Elian had never thought about switching weapons before. He was skilled with his spear in battle. Out of battle, he used guns and daggers because his spear caught everyone's attention. If he had to choose something else, he'd probably take in a gun. While the white rabbit was horrible at shooting in a close range, he had good accuracy and had never had trouble running and shooting. On the other hand, he was just as good with a sword. A sword was like his backup spear. While he didn't like swords much for being so heavy, they made for good tools to block with and deal horrible blows.
"Likely a gun," Elian said at last. "While I'm not the best at shooting, it might help to slow my opponent down.. And I use it to kill, so.." He fell silent, looking at her face. She had an odd smile there that scared him plenty. What exactly was his Queen up to? -

In his bedroom, down by the rest of the servant's quarters, he found it just as usual. Two white mattresses, stacked on top of one another, and a red knit blanket on top. All of his belongings were kept in a bedside stand, including his clothes and a single book. Finally, on the wall beside his door, his sword hung on two hooks.
After bathing and getting his clothes out and ready for the next day, Achille closed his door and went to rest on his bed. He was unsure if he'd finally try it- to run away and go back to living with the hatter and the mouse. If he was caught, it would cost him a head, but he feared even worse having it chopped by the White queen for murder. -

"Well, I had a certain someone make a little something for me.. I think you'll rather like it. See, it looks like a normal pocket watch at first, but then.. By simply turning it to a certain time, it'll activate some nasty weapons that you seem to like. It's sure to help you win, my beautiful Elian," The queen stated proudly. "And, it won't really be breaking the rule of one weapon because it is one weapon."
"Oh.." He inhaled sharply, holding back a sigh. "Must I use it, your majesty?"
"Of course you must, why else would I have it made for you now of all times? I will send one of the cats in here to give it to you. You must train. For the rest of the night, you will not do anything except practice using the Millennium. Please, win for us this once, Elian Jack." With those final words, she rose from her spot on the floor, gave him a nod, and left him alone.
Just like she had stated, a female cat came into his room not too long after the White Queen had left. Inside of a little glass case was a beautiful watch. Along with it was a piece of paper- likely instructions. He thanked the cat and took it with an uncertain look in his eyes. Sure, he didn't enjoy losing, but every time he had lost his balance or looked the wrong way on accident. It was horrible compared to how he acted while assassinating people. -
Achille rolled onto his back and sat up, unbuttoning his dress coat to take it off for the night. For the time being, he was rather sure that the queen was done with him for the day, so he tossed the red rose to the ground with a wrinkle of his nose. The color of it, which he saw all day, made him sick. It was blood, it was the Red queen, it was a red rose, it was her tapestries that hung all over the walls- the color was everywhere here, and he hated it.
With his jack laid on top of his dresser, he stood from the bed and went to the wall. The sword that hung there on two little stands was nothing cheap. Probably the only expensive thing he'd ever owned, the queen had given it to him the night before he won the first of four fights. The hilt was carved wood, laid with traces of silver. The blade itself was dual sided hand crafted carbon steel, tempered for strength and meticulously polished to a superb finish. All together, the thing was less than two feet long, about and inch shorter than the length of one of his arms, but it still weighed a good few pounds. But he trusted it as his only weapon, after it winning him so many fights.
He lifted it from the wall, holding it by the hilt with both hands. He twisted it from side to side, checking the polish, the sharpness, the stain of the wood. It was pristine when he'd received it, and he intended to keep it that way. -
Elian took the watch out of its case and inspected it with wide eyes. How could something so small and fragile do something so amazing? He started fiddling with it, getting surprised every time he was able to change it to a different weapon. It seemed fairly easy to use, and the best thing was that it had a lot of different uses. He even managed to turn it into a spoon (though he wasn't sure how a spoon was a weapon).
Once he had gotten the hang of changing it back and forth, he left the comfort of his own room to go outside. The sky was dark, and only the moon and lights from the kingdom lead the way. "I suppose I should try using this.." A wide grin covered his face. He did, after all, have a little list of people to kill. It was a perfect moment to try his new weapon out. Ears twitching from the cool air, he took off down a path. His eyes gleamed. This was not the Elian that he normally was, no, this was the killer inside of him. Perhaps he'd just have to show that side tomorrow.
