"That's because you never talk to them, Mr. Grump. You always act like they aren't good enough to be my friends or something. But I know you just like it when you're the one that has all of my attention. You're my big baby." Flynn smiled warmly, leaning into the touch of his hair. Zaire did get rather gloomy when others were around, and the pink-haired boy understood that his boyfriend worried about his safety and whether or not someone would try to steal him away. But none of that would ever happen, not in this life. Flynn belonged to Zaire, no matter. And that's where he wanted to be. The smaller slipped his arms around his lover and snuggled close to him. "I'm glad I can be the light in your darkness and keep you out of trouble. All I want is for you to be the best that you can be, Zaire-bear, and I want to be there every step of the way." A few tears came to the pink-haired boys eyes when his lover said such kind things to him, and he couldn't hold back his sobs when they followed. "Zaire.. I love you so much. I'm sorry. I won't think like that anymore, or at least I'll try not to. I just... I want you to be happy and have a fulfilling life. And I just feel like I'm hindering you from reaching that. But the truth is I'd rather you stayed with me forever." Flynn sniffed a few times, reaching up to rub his eyes. "I'm sorry.. I'm so selfish.." He tried to calm himself and put on a smile while rubbing the last of the tears from his eyes. "Let's just..go eat now. I'm making you wait with my nonsense when you're hungry."
-
"Well, maybe that's because I don't like other people," Zaire huffed as Flynn stated what he knew was true. "A lot of the people in this school are venomous.. That's why I don't stick around any longer than I have to. You're the only thing keeping me here, you know." He continued to stroke the smaller's hair, looking down at the ground. Though he swore he'd never admit it, he did like having all of Flynn's attention. Whenever other people got it, Zaire felt lonely. He knew it wasn't healthy, but he enjoyed clinging to the pink haired boy as his one and only companion. Besides his parents, the raven didn't really like anyone. People just weren't his walk in the park. It was almost surprising that he had gotten so attacked to Flynn- after all, he was a person, too. Then again, Flynn was a good person. And Zaire wouldn't have wanted to love anyone else. He relaxed as Flynn snuggled close to his body. He could feel Flynn's heartbeat against his own. "I want you to be there, too.. Oh, Flynn!" Zaire hugged his lover, laughing a bit and trying to help wipe his tears away. "I'm always happy, baby. Well, I try to be. You'll never stop me from that. If anything, you are the source of my happiness.. You can be such a butt, sometimes. I love you too." The raven smiled, shaking his head. "You aren't selfish. Don't worry about it. Oh, I can listen to you all day, y'know."
-
"I know you don't like people, but at least you like me enough to be mine." Flynn smiled sweetly at his boyfriend, thinking about when they were younger. Back in elementary school, everyone was fairly open and obvious about who they liked and didn't like. But when it came to high school, people were disgustingly cruel. They were malicious and secretive about everything. They would talk behind your back then try to act like a friend when they were around you. It was hard to find friends, honest ones anyway, but Flynn always say the good in people, whether Zaire could or not was out of the smaller boy's control. He smiled at his boyfriend, feeling himself calm down and relax from being so close to the other. A giggle escaped him when he was wrapped in Zaire's secure arms. He grinned at the feeling of the brunette's fingers brushing under his eyes and cheeks, wiping the moisture away. "You can be a butt, too, ya know. And as much as I'd love to yap at you, I don't want to starve you. You'll whine about being hungry later if I don't feed you, so come on. Let's go get some lunch." The pink-haired boy began to gently tug at his boyfriend's arm.
-
"Yes, I like you... No, I love you, Flynn. You're different, and I like different. Honestly, you're the only person worth my time, apart from my parents." Zaire grinned at the sweet, loving smile, pleased that he was able to see it yet again that day. He wasn't sure what his baby was thinking, but it seemed like it was a happy memory, for he was still smiling and was soon giggling at something. He calmed down once he saw Flynn's muscles relax and knew that his breathing was going back to its normal state. Humming softly, the raven wiped the tears away on his shirt, making sure to return his hands to their regular position. "Yeah, I know I can. But you don't have a problem with it, right?" Zaire scooped up his belongings, ceasing his hums. "You're right, I might. Then again, I can always eat.. You!" He leaned in, gently biting his kitten's ear. However, the larger didn't do more, because he didn't want to cause another attack. "Get your stuff so we can embark on the magical journey to the cafeteria."
-
"I love you, too. I want to stay with you forever. I know I can trust you with anything and everything, even taking care of me.." The smaller gripped at his chest lightly. There was never a time when he didn't think about his condition and how it could affect him in the future. He didn't like to think about it, but he knew Zaire was more likely to out-live him. That thought always in the back of his mind, he treasured every moment with the other like a precious metal or gem. "No, I don't mind at a--ahh..!" Flynn giggled and lightly pushed on his lover's shoulders when he nibbled at the pink-haired boy's ear. "Nooo~! You can't eat me! Who will be here to take care of you, hmm?" His smile didn't falter as Zaire pulled back, being careful of the smaller's condition. He gathered his own things, taking the other's hand and pulling towards the door. "We'd better hurry if we wanna get any food."
-
"That wouldn't be bad at all. Just imagine, us going to the same college, living in the same house, maybe not doing the same jobs but waking up to each other's faces.. For the rest of our lives and in death. It's a nice thought. I'd like to stay with you forever too." Zaire watched as Flynn gripped his chest, and for a moment, a sad look crossed his happy expression. He knew how much Flynn struggled, and though it wasn't his fault, the raven felt a sting in his own chest every time he saw his baby's struggles. A smile tugged at his lips as he remembered that Flynn was strong and he had to be the same, if only to keep them both from worrying about it. The smile turned into another grin as he listened to the giggles that sounded like chiming bells. "I could eat you, if I got hungry. Um, I guess I have my parents for a while, and.. Oh, you've got me there. Nice one, Flynn," he followed the smaller boy without a hassle. "Right. And let's not forget, I'm still starving."
-
"We'll get an apartment near the campus together. I honestly don't know what kind of job I want to do. But no matter what happens, waking up to your grinning mug would make all of my days brighter." Flynn smiled and snuggled into his lover's side, wrapping his arms around Zaire's waist. He knew it was hard for the other to watch him suffer with his heart problems, but the pink-haired boy couldn't depend on his boyfriend for every little thing. They were a strong pair that no one could break apart. Seeing Zaire's smile, Flynn got on his toes and leaned up to kiss the brunette's cheek. "You might be a Mama's boy, but your dad would kick you out eventually to spend the rest of their years alone. If you ate me, you wouldn't have anywhere to go, or no one to take care of you. I'm your little Flynn, so be good to me." He smiled and nodded, continuing towards the cafeteria.
-
"Oo, that doesn't sound too bad at all. Sharing an apartment.. It'll be fun~ Oh, really now? I'm glad to hear that my grin would be your reason for living.." Zaire laughed, patting Flynn's pink crown of hair as he walked along slowly. He enjoyed the secure feeling he got as the smaller boy hugged his waist. It make him feel safe, and he knew that Flynn liked being held as well. With a soft grunt, he slowed down as the other leaned up to kiss his cheek. "I'm sure I'd be able to find a way to care for myself, mind you! You do make a good point about me being kicked out, though, and I do suppose it would be easier for me to spend my time with you more so than trying to forge my own life.. Tch, Flynn, you really do make it hard for me to try to make a point when I'm making my jokes. I'll get back at you for this, you'll see!" The taller shook his fist to make his words over dramatic.
-
"Of course it will. The holidays would suck though, since our parents hate each other and all. We wouldn't be able to invite them to anything without a fight breaking out. You'll always be my reason to go on, Zaire." Flynn leaned into the head patting and held onto his boyfriend's arm. He loved being so close to the other, being in his grasp. And if there was one thing he loved more than all else, it was being picked up by Zaire as if he were a mere feather. Flynn scoffed at his lover's grunt and nipped his ear lobe. "I'm the most important person in your life. You can't live any kind of good life without me, and I can't live without you. And you can always sneak into my room if your parents kick you out. Or just sneak in anyway." The pink-haired boy giggled at the brunette's dramatic display while he pushed open a door to the cafeteria. "Oh will you? I'll be waiting for it."
-
"Oh, right.. One of us would have to leave the apartment for a day or something just for us to have our parents over.. It wouldn't be too bad, seeing as how neither of us would want to see them fighting more than what they do now." The raven rubbed Flynn's hand with his thumb, smiling as they walked down the hallway towards the cafeteria. It was comfortable to be able to touch the smaller boy like this, to be able to walk in each others grasps. It was comforting, almost like how Zaire felt when his parents used to hug him as a child. They still did that now, even- but he personally liked his lover's hugs more. "Yeah, yeah, you've already proven that point. You come first in my life, and then my family and friends. I like the idea of sneaking to your house just because, honestly. I should do that more often." Zaire had a thoughtful gaze in his eyes as he walked through the doors first. "Don't worry, it won't be a long wait."
-
"Honestly, I'd tell my parents to suck it up that I'm with you at that point. If I invite them over, it's because I want to share our loving family with them. We just can't invite them both over at the same time or they'll fight each other." Flynn smiled and gave his hand a light squeeze. He liked being the one that made Zaire happy and comfortable no matter where they were, so long as they were together. Whenever they hugged, it was either over-extended or turned into cuddling, and the smaller boy knew they fit perfectly together. "You come first, too. I know research would argue that it isn't healthy, but I've known you for so long that we can truthfully put each other first. And I'd leave my window unlocked just for you. Maybe we can chill and watch some Netflix." Flynn grinned and followed after, taking in the different scents of food while teasing his boyfriend. "I believe that, but know once you get me back, it's war."
-
"Heh. I'm sure your mother would be the first to give up the fight, if you were to ever say something like that to them. Man, I wish they'd all give it up right now," Zaire said in a disappointed tone as he looked over to his lover. He gave him a pouty look. "We should be able to invite both of our families over without having such a hassle.. It's a pain to see them bicker when they see each other, or if either of our parents see us together. The past is the past. I guess they don't get that like we do." The raven smiled fondly as his hand was squeezed. He felt like the small pressure to his hand was a reassurance that everything would work out one day, even if Flynn himself hadn't said those words. The other had a way of making him feel just right about himself at any point in time. "We work together like gears in a machine, and we love as hard as little love-bugs that stick to their mates all of the time.. We were practically made to put each other first, don't you think?" He grinned at the pink haired boy's comment, rather delighted. "Ooh, we get to do the 'in' thing? Sounds good to me." They had entered the lunchroom now, and the larger boy could feel his stomach growl at him. "Time to get some chow~!" He sneakily avoided responding to the other's last comment, grinning mischievously.
-
"Well, it's difficult for them. A lot of awful things were exchanged between them, and honestly, your parents don't have a right to be angry with mine. They picked on my mom all the time, Zaire. They were always bigger, at least your dad is, and stronger. They weren't fair towards mine..." Flynn sighed softly and looked up at the other, smiling at his pouty face. "I know they should get along, at least for us. We'll have to try to bring them together some time. Force them to get along with each other." The smaller boy was happy to give Zaire all the reassurance he wanted or needed in any way he could. Most of which involved squeezing his hand or arm. Flynn giggled at the analogy, finding it to be cute. "But most bugs don't last long. How about we're wolves? They tend to have only one mate in their lives. Someone they're with for an eternity. And I agree that we were literally made to be together, and probably bring our parents together." He rolled his eyes at the brunette, smiling at him. "By 'in thing' you mean your thing in me, right? I want a hot dog later.. But a salad sounds good right now." Flynn teased lightly as he followed his lover to get food.
-
"I know it's hard, but they don't seem to try very hard to make things right. My parents should own up to what they've done instead of making fun of you. My mom calls you a pink rat.. You're my kitten, not a rat. It's so dumb how they're trying to hurt you too. You did nothing to them. And I love you, so I can only hope that one day they'll apologize and get together so we can be a nice, big, happy family. Wouldn't that be nice?" Zaire held his cheek in his hand, sighing with the other. He wouldn't begin to image why his parents had done what they did to Flynn's mother. It was practically high level bullying. "I'll love the day they get over it and let us be together without complaining. You and I can work together to make that happen. Maybe, we can keep asking for them to do it as a birthday present," the raven joked. "Wolves are nice animals. I can see us being like wolves." He yawned, picking out his own choice of meal and waiting for the other to get his salad. "Okay, Flynn, I see what you did there. I like it." The other grinned, patting his back. "I can't wait~"
-
"Well, at least you don't think I'm a rat.. And your dad isn't quite as mean when he insults me. I feel like there would still be tension, but if we can find something they all share interests in, maybe we can bring them together that way. It would be nice to have everyone together, being nice to each other. You and my parents are the most important people in my life, I love all of you." Flynn smiled, reaching up to hold his hand. The pink-haired boy wanted his parents to accept Zaire more than anything, he wanted them to see the boyfriend that he saw. The sweet young man who'd gone out of his way to keep him safe and out of the hospital. He needed the other in his life, feeling as if he'd die without him. "Hm, maybe not as a present. We need to get them on mutual terms. Let's make plans to all go to the same place and meet up. I doubt they'll make too big of a scene in public if they get upset. Maybe something for the holidays." Flynn smiled and leaned up to peck his cheek. "Then wolves we'll be." The smaller boy looked through the different salads and dressings, picking out what he wanted, a chef's salad with caesar dressing, and hurrying with his lover to find a place to sit. "You have the best hot dog, you know that? I can't wait either. Even if it hurts, I want to become one with you."
