The year is 5064. Humanity has mostly rebuilt since the apacolypse. The apacolypse hd brought ne2 abilities to certain people, but also mutated monsters that only thought to kill. There had been peace for 500 years, but now wars are being waged all over the world. In New Japan (couldn't think of anything creative), a group simply known as the Magic Combat Unit was formed to kill off monsters that would occassionally cause a stir and fight other nations. The MCU has teams divided into three for missions. Each one with a special skill or ability.
