He felt all of his hair stand up on end. Nonono. Matthew pressed up closer to the true, wishing he could just disappear.
-
-
Ah sorry!)
Hearing no reply Adam growled lowly to himself. He raised the gun and shot just above where the form was standing, snapping a branch off the tree. "That was a warning shot." He called, approaching the soldier. -
He almost jumped when he heard the shot fired. He covered his head. "P-please don't kill me!"
-
"Then come out." He ordered with another growl. He stepped closer to the tree and waited, the gun still ready in his hands.
-
He hesistated to do so. But he might just die either way. He took a deep breath before coming out from the tree, his hands up.
-
Adam's eyes widened slightly in surprise and he lowered the gun the slightest bit. "Damn it..." He muttered under his breath. It was another one of those young boys, probably forced into war. They were always the hardest to kill. "...Drop your weapons." He said calmly, steeling himself.
-
Matthew dropped the musket that was carried by a strap on his shoulder. It hit the ground with a thud and a click. But, he didn't get rid of the knife in his boot since it wasn't visible.
-
Adam narrowed his eyes. "All of them. I've killed enough of your kind to know you're hiding something."
-
Matthew bent down to pull the knife from his boot. He dropped it on to the ground, right by the musket.
-
Adam nodded. He raised the gun and pointed it at the boy. He swallowed down his rising guilt and glanced down. It was always harder when he looked at their faces.
-
Matthew's eyes widened as the gun was lifted up, His teeth gritted as he tried to hold back his grief. He mouthed out. "Please... don't..."
-
Adam closed his eyes and sighed. His finger trembled on the trigger. He cursed silently, why was this happening? He wasn't usually this soft...He groaned and lowered the gun. "Damn it..." He swore again, shoving the fun roughly back into its holster. "I...can't do it. I can't kill you." He muttered.
-
His body started to relax. He breathed heavily, almost he was about to experience a panic attack. "T-thank you... so much..."
-
Adam shook his head. "Just...come on. I've got to get you out of here." It was so wrong, forcing so many young men into war without any training whatsoever. "What's your name?" He asked gruffly, mostly to make conversation. He grabbed the boy's hand before he could try to bolt and half-dragged him along towards the Northern base.
