Name: Lyralei Windranger
Age: 21
Race: Hylian?
Gender: Female.
Personality: Lyralei is the very definition of a free spirit. She's childish, takes very few things seriously, prefers to be alone when given the choice, has a hatred for the indoors and rarely sits still. Her constant jokes could be considered annoying to some, but that hasn't stopped her from making them before.
Physical traits: Lyralei has long red hair that runs down her back, and ever moving green eyes. A small mole can just be seen on the side of her nose. Her clothes are the bare minimum needed to keep her warm, with her midriff clearly showing. A pair of green bracers cover her arms, both to improve her aim and protect her from string slaps.
Abilities: While Lyralei is absolutely terrible with people and unaware of her affinity with the wind, she considers herself the second best archer in the land. Able to shot quickly, accurately, long distance or all three at once, it doesn't matter, Lyralei is perfect with her weapon of choice.
Bio: The southern forests guard their secrets well. One of these is Lyralei, master archer of the wood, and favored godchild of the wind. Known now as Windranger, Lyralei's family was killed in a storm on the night of her birth-their house blown down by the gale, contents scattered to the winds. Only the newborn survived among the debris field of death and destruction. In the quiet after the storm, the wind itself took notice of the lucky infant crying in the grass. The wind pitied the child and so lifted her into the sky and deposited her on a doorstep in a neighboring village. In the years that followed, the wind returned occasionally to the childs life, watching from a distance while she honed her skills. Now, after many years of training, Windranger fires her arrows true to their targets. She moves with blinding speed, as if hastened by a wind ever at her back. With a flurry of arrows, she slaughters her enemies, having become, nearly, a force of nature herself. -
(Late reply. Awesome character! How will Link and Lyralei meet in the story?)
"Link!" Removing his eyes from the clouds, and moving them to face who had just called him, Link saw Zelda, still dressed in her usual Princess outfit, her hair down and braided. Link stood up to face her, and he noticed that there was a certain glow about her, warm and welcoming. Glaring at him playfully, she asked, "You didn't forget what today is, did you?" He saw through her act, and gave it right back to her. "Wait, what's today?" Her face went completely pale for a moment, then extremely red. "You did forget!" She accused, but Link looked into her eyes, and smiled. "How could I forget what today is? I've been waiting for today. As I know you have, as well." The color slowly returned to Zelda's face, and she smiled, which made Link happy. He would do anything to make her happy, he'd proved that during the fight with Gannondorf. The memory made Link cringe inside, the day when he'd nearly lost Midna, his best friend, and his princess. The battle was tough, yes, but Link was the victor, as he was the successor to the Hero of Time, the Hero of Old. "It's almost time. We should go in." The Princess's voice interrupted his thoughts, pulling him back to the present. "Okay, you go in, I'll catch up." The hero said, nodding. The Princess looked confused for a second, then nodded as well. "Okay, but hurry!" She yelled, running inside the castle. Link only nodded, and after he thought she was out of range of hearing him, he whispered, "Goddesses help me.." He loved the thought of being with Zelda forever, however, he wasn't looking forward to being one of the people at the center of attention. He dismissed the thought, though, as he walked towards the castle. -
(Well, ideally they would meet soon after Link embarks on his quest; with Lyralei seeking him out and offering her help in return for a portion of the cure. If you have a better idea, or want something different, just shout. Since we're several years before that point, they would probably just notice each other at the ceremony or something.
Also, just so we're clear, does the disease turn people to stone, or are the two separate?)
"So are you going to go watch it or sit here whining to me all day?"
The voice was monotone; emotionless. More a machine printing out words than a person asking a question. In that respect, it was much like its owner. She was emotionless too, rarely smiling, rarely shouting. Her body never showed signs of her emotions either, giving her a ghostly gait as she leaned back; the tree branch beneath her holding her weight.
Lyralei responded by throwing her head back too, staring into the sky. Tree leaves blocked her view, but a smooth wind quickly moved them. "Watch it? Why would I watch it, silly?"
The other girl sighed, and pulled herself up. Her purple cape flipped over her stomach, and a blue hand quickly moved it. "Because you want to watch it." She replied, in the same monotone voice.
"No I don't."
"Yes, you do."
"No, I don't."
"Yes, you do."
"No, I don't."
The two stared at each other for a second, before Lyralei laughed into the wind. "I really, really want to see it, Drow! Come with me! Just for tonight."
The blue coloured girl continued to show no emotion, other than a nonchalant shrug. Lyralei let out a squeal of delight and leapt out of the tree; pulling Drow with her. The city walls eclipsed them, but it was no challenge as the two started to climb into the city. One obviously more excited than the other. -
(Bumping because Link is a lazy ass who posts once and never again.)
"You know, my name is not Drow." The blue-tinted girl said as the two of them ran along the wall of the city. Lyralei was always faster, the girl always ran with the wind at her back, but that didn't stop the smaller ranger.
"But Drow is much more fun, silly! Besides, Traxex is a stupid name."
Traxex cough loudly, "Excuse me, Traxex was one of the most revered Drow sorcerers to ever exist, and the things she did for Drow society will forever be remembered..."
"Ugh, another history lesson, Drow? Come on, lets get down into the town proper, I want to see the princess!"
Before Traxex could even respond, Lyralei was gone. A single line of rope lead down from the wall, tied to an arrow. And of course, Lyralei was already halfway down by the time Traxex realized what was happening. With a sigh, she pulled her purple clock over her face and followed suit, climbing down to earth.
