Soaps are almost like writing a story. The creator comes up with a plot, and you write parts for your character that goes with the plot. You can do it in first or third person.
For example: Lets say that a girl named Cindy is going to the store.
First person: I walked to the store, my heels clacking against the sidewalk. My hair fell in front of my eyes as the wind blew through the streets. The doors automatically opened and I walked inside.
Third person: Cindy walked to the store, her heels clacked on the sidewalk. Her hair fell in front of her eyes as the wind blew through the streets. The door automatically opened and Cindy walked into the store.
The characters are ones that you create to play as.
For example: This is Cindy's 'skeleton'.
Name: Cindy
Gender: Female
Age: 18
Looks: Long brown hair, green eyes, tan, tall, slim
And this is only a basic skeleton. Usually, the creator of a soap/rp will give you a skeleton to fill out.
You can choose whether to be a girl or a boy, unless the owner of the thread says you have to be a certain gender. -
i prefer the first person veiw. for one, it gives more detail about a characters personality and how he/she thinks. this also allows to become more well-bonded to your character, seeing as you are supposedly 'acting' as your character.
third person is a bit diffrent. for one,playing multiple roles can only (more like usually) be allowed when every one of your characters is in a third person veiw. this is also a way to not get TOO bonded with your character,but still know alot about him or her. -
