He was unable to sleep and locked the house leaving a note for the girl. He knew she would stay asleep. Pulling on his tight black shirt, and jeans he put his sword acorss his back and headed towards the Elders. The man that useally protectected the door was gone. Jace slid inside and walked down the halls in silence. Walking inside he heard the girl, Alexa, get snappy. He chuckled quietly and stood next to her. "I agree." He said in his rumbling voice. "We need answers." His eyes were cold, his body solid. His wrapping had slight blood seeping from them but he payed no attention.
-
I sighed. "I came for the same reason. What was that?" I asked. The elders shifted uncomfortably. They weren't giving up any answers. I was starting to get annoyed. "Do you even know?" I asked, sounding a bit rash.
-
"Do you even care!?" Alexa yelled at the room of Elders, all avoiding her gaze, like it was a hot iron. Which, in a way, it was. "Does it even matter to you?! Last time I checked, none of you were out there, defending this place. You all stayed in here, nice and cosy, debating things, while we get our buts kicked for you! We are aren't so,e pawns in a game of chess for you to sacrifice at will; we feel pain too! I just saw one of my old best friends, who went missing 10 years ago, try to kill me; both of me! You're all cowards!" She ranted, losing her temper. She didn't care what they did, just wanted to let them know what she thought of the.

He couldnt help but smile at the girls outburst. His golden eyes narrowed at the Leo elder, who was eyeing him sadly. Jace quickly looked away, fresh pain flashing in his eyes before it was coverd by his mask. "It won't help by screaming at them, They don't even know what it was." He said to the screaming girl next to him. His whole body was tence, his face a hidden mask.
-
"I guessed as much." I muttered. The elders looked at each other. A look of agreement passing through them. The Aries, Leo, and Gemini elders stood.
The Aries elder was an older women. The Leo elder was the same as he was before, except his eyes held sadness. The Gemini elder was surprisingly young, maybe in her late 60's. That was probably because there were less Geminis then anything else living here.
"You must understand the situation." The Leo elder said. "We were attacked by a force we couldn't begin to understand." The Aries elder agreed. "An evil force. Set on destroying our home." The Gemini elder finished. I blinked. How did that clear it up? -
Alexa glared at the Leo who had entered the room after her, when he they didn't know what it was. His face was a mask, she couldn't discern any emotion whatsoever.
"Oh? Then why haven't they said so?" She muttered to him. She looked back at the elders, her eyes drifting ti the Gemini. When they stood up, she expected a big explanation, not this.
"How does this explain things?" She asked, frostily. "What 'evil force'? Why don't you just give a straight answer?" She added quietly. -
He shrugged "They are afraid.." He told them softly before stepping forward. "None of us know what or who this is... But what if we went exploring to find it? To look for this.. Thing?" His eyes gleamed in the light. The Leo rose with a frown "Now, this isn't child's play an-" Jace cut him off. "No it's not." He growled, his eyes flashing with rage. "They took away something that I can't have back. I want to bring peace to my people." His body was tence and he seemed to radiated off anger and if you looked hard enough... Pain.
-
"Yeah. We aren't children anymore! We're changed, we're officially adults. If you don't let me go, fine. I'll just leave this stinking island myself, because I am not going to abandon Dusk to some evil force." Alexa added. She looked up at Jace; he a bit taller than her, so it was bit awkward. She noticed something in his face. With a start, she saw what it was. Pain. Just peeking out behind a face with no emotion. She gave him a quick, comforting smile.
"Look, Alexa, I know that you were good friends with this...Dusk, but you are blind to best interests of your people. Gemini's are already dwindling; if you die, it will only increase the disappearance of them." The Gemini elder said in a soft voice.
"I'm not the one who's blind..." Alexa replied quietly, looking at the Elder in the eyes. -
I frowned. Nothing was adding up anymore. "Why can't you tell us what you know? I can tell that you know more information." I said.
The elders all frowned. The Aries elder sighed. "Eleanor Kanery. We've been hiding something from all of you. But if you want to hear it, we'll tell you." The Aries elder looked at the others and nods. "A hundred years ago this island was empty. When we came, we demanded that every new born baby with a potential to be a Changeling be brought here. So the first hundred people came." She looked at Jace. "Your parents were some of the first to get here. So that's how Zodiac Island came to be. But, sixteen years ago. There were newborns being sent here. We had thought there were no more." She turned to me. "You were one of them. But the growing population was dangerous because we all held such great powers. There are forces that want that power. Have you all heard of Ophiuchus?" -
Jace listened quietly, his shaking slightly so he stuffed them into his pockets to hide them from others view. He just wanted to fight. To get off this island and show those.. Things who he was. They would pay. He vowed silently to himself. He met the Elder Leo's eyes once more, Geminis weren't the only dying breed and everyone knew it. The elder nodded just slightly in his direction and Jace nodded pack. It was code.

The Gemini Elder gave Alexa a look of pity when the Aries Elder was talking, like she knew something about her that she didn't. It unnerved her.
"The Opi-what?" She asked. It was familiar, just, when she tried to remember what it was, and she thought she had it, it would just slip away from her.
"Please, just give it to us straight. What are the facts of our situation. If this Opi-something-or-other guy managed to break through the enchantments surrounding the island, then other enemies can too." She said, almost pleadingly. Almost. -
I frowned and looked down. "Ophiuchus. The serpent bearer. The unofficial 13th zodiac. When the celestial equator lines up with the ecliptic plane, Ophiuchus shows." I said. "That day is also known as the Vernal or Spring Equinox, which was yesterday, the day of the Choosing Ceremony."
The Aries elder nodded. "Ophiuchus has never tried to attack us. But the people that you fought and may have killed were brainwashed humans that were infused with stars. There are millions in Ophiuchus' army. All Ophiuchus wants to do is destroy us. Yes, he did break through the barrier. Ophiuchus is getting other beings for his cause. Things that were banished to oblivion long ago, and other things much worse." -
Jace growled "Then let us fight him before it gets worse. You know what I'm capable of." The Elders didn't say anything but they did indeed know what the young Leo could do. His muscles tightened and he glared at them. "Let me go. An.. Inside job or something." He sighed softly.
-
"Fine." Alexa said, and threw her hands in the air in exasperation. She turned and walked towards the door, grasped the handle and was about to leave, when she felt a hand on her shoulder. She stiffened.
"Wait." The Gemini Elder said, and glanced at the others. Alexa shrugged off her hand, and crossed her arms.
