"This was supposed to be Clarisse's job..." Percy muttered as he and Grover trekked up Half Blood Hill. Grover sighed, looking a little annoyed, but not much else. Clarisse was out on a small quest, hunting down a few stray telkhines that had made their way into the city. As a result, Chiron had divided up the work she wouldn't be able to do, and Percy and Grover had gotten stuck with morning patrol. "At least there's nothing around causing trouble," Percy offered with a sigh of his own. But then they both stiffened as a piercing scream rang out. "Spoke too soon, man." Grover said as they both broke out into a run.

When they arrived at where the scream had come from, both of them stopped in surprise for half a moment. A tall girl with pale skin and dark black-brown hair pulled back was wielding a large silver sword, slashing at a pack of hellhounds. A little ways behind her, a younger looking girl with midnight black hair stood over the unconscious form of a third girl. The younger one had a bow drawn, and was firing golden arrows at the hellhounds. Jumping into action, Percy drew Riptide and ran towards the girls, shouting a battle cry. The dark haired girl turned towards him, looking surprised and exasperated. "If you're going to kill us," She growled between stabbing at the monsters, "You could at least wait until we're done with this fight." She moved back, barely keeping her head connected to her body from a large claw. Her feet entwined and she fell back, only to have Percy catch her arm and pull her up. "My name's Percy. And I'm not here to kill you." He told her, jabbing at one of the beasts. "I'm here to help." The girl looked a little shocked, but continued fighting. "Grover! Go get help!" The satyr nodded quickly and ran off. -
Minutes later, multiple other battle cries were heard, and a group of about five campers charged down the hill. It didn't take long for the hellhounds to be reduced to dust. Panting the tall girl dropped her sword and ran over to the other two. She placed a hand on the black-haired girl's shoulder and looked at her with a concerned expression, muttering something Percy couldn't hear. The younger girl replied quickly, looking equally worried as she gestured to the unconscious girl. The older one nodded and turned back to Percy. "Thank you. For helping us." She said, looking a little stiff but appreciative nonetheless. Percy nodded. "Sure. But we should get some help for your friend." She nodded, and everyone headed back to camp, Grover carrying the injured girl. Percy smirked at the pure stunned expressions on their faces as they entered camp. He soon departed from the group though, saying he had to talk to someone named Annabeth about what had happened. Grover told one of the campers to lead them to "the Big House". The camper seemed a little reluctant, but he didn't object. He looked to be about the same age as the black-haired girl, around thirteen or fourteen. His hair matched hers as well, and he wore a leather aviator jacket along with a haunting skull ring. "I'm Nico, by the way." He informed them, but that was where the formalities ended. None of them spoke much until they entered the Big House.
