Tempest's eyes widened for a millisecond before they narrowed, but they looked gentler. "Hey," She said, sitting down beside him. "You don't gotta be so nervous around me, got it? I'm alright once ya getta know me." Leaning forward, she breathed "You want out, don't you? I can get you out."
-
"Get me out?!" Floodkit asked, a smile forming on his face. Then he realized this cat may be testing him. "N-no, I'm f-fine here!"
-
"You don't trust me, do you." She looked around, before bringing her multi colored eyes back to his. "Follow me." Tempest rose and padded towards the edge of camp.
-
Floodkit glanced around nervously. Is this a trick? Is she lying? ...I'm taking my chances. He slowly got to his paws and followed her.
-
The she-cat gestured to her face. "Where do you think I got this scar?"
-
"I don't know..." Floodkit muttered.
-
She stared at him, expressionless. "Take a guess." Her voice was hard. Cold.
Gtg! Bye!) -
"A clan cat gave it to you...?"
(Goodbye!) -
Tempest laughed, but there was no humor in the sound. "Good guess. But no." Her tail wrapped around her paws. "I used to be part of Cavernclan. Just like you." She lifted a paw and pointed across the camp. Her gesture was towards a large, muscular blue-gray tom. "That's Bane. One of Floodeye's most loyal cronies." Her muzzle wrinkled in disgust. "He and a couple other rogues found me on patrol one day. Beat me up pretty bad." She shuddered. "Been stuck here ever since. I've saved every cat I could, but they're gettin' suspicious." She narrowed her eyes again. "I hate 'em. But I can't disappear without somebody noticing. So I've gotta help the cats who're small enough to escape unnoticed."
-
"Why don't you just leave and never return? Why don't you just go back to Cavernclan? They'll protect you!"
-
"There would be a battle." The black she-cat answered simply. "There are kits, elders. I have friends there. I would not bring a battle with the rogues to them." She shook her head. "But this isn't about me. I can get you out."
-
"That wouldn't work. Floodeye... seems to have taken a special liking to me."
-
Tempest glared at the ground. "That's...unfortunate. Can't you just get lost on a hunt or something?"
-
"My dad's told me stories about what happens to cats who try to escape from here." Floodkit looked down at his paws.
-
Tempest stiffened. "Who's your dad?" When she had left Cavernclan, Nettlestar's kits were just being made apprentices.
