"Then the events causing the death shouldn't be able to change either. If all of this is true, I didn't have a choice. You had to die, and I had to kill you."

"I know that. Your whole life and what you do is basically your destiny. But, you don't know it. You DIDN'T KNOW that THAT was how your life was supposed to go. But what drove you to do it? What kind of monster would see an innocent 17 year old girl hiding in a closet protecting her 9 year old brother, and practically drag her out to stab her to death because she saw the money? I was crying and screaming, and you saw. But you didn't care....."

"I-I... that night... I wasn't..." He sighed.

"Wasn't what?" she asked, her eyes burning with heartbreak, fear, and hate.

"I wasn't thinking straight. It was mostly a dare, and a need for money. I was in pretty bad debt, and the people I owed it to said they'd cut the payment in half if I broke in and stole it. I was pretty drunk, and driven by greed and desperation. I guess to the point that I didn't realize it was bad." He couldn't meet her gaze. "I guess I've always been a demon."
