"Sorry...." he mumbled. "Mine too." he looked down at the ground and put his arm around her. This girl was hurt. He could tell. "I'm Jake, by the way. And you?"

He sighed. Maybe they had some time to talk.... "Did you go to fieldridge high?" he asked quietly. If she lived a mile away from him, she had to of gone there.

"Same here." Maybe they saw each other. It was hard to tell exactly what she looked like through the dim light.

"Mrs.Chany....." he mumbled, thinking of the kids in class.

He laughed a bit. "Oh man...that guy. Basketball coach, too. He was the funniest guy ever...."

"Yea, I remember that. It was-" before he coud finish his sentence, there was a screeching noise. Unhuman. The hatch door swung open to reveal a drone. Hell.No.

He grabbed the gun from his pocket and shot it 3 times in the heart thing....or...where the heart was supposed to be. It feel to the ground. He quickly put the gun in his belt and grabbed her hand. "We need to get out of here. Now."

He sighed and grabbed her hand again. "Look, we need to stay together if you wanna live." he headed towards the door.

"fine. If the drones take you, don't blame me." he walked out of the basement and ran to the nearest house.

He turned his flashlight on and nearly screamed at the dead bodies sitting in the chairs. The time on the clock was correct. It was like all the life just stopped. He searched for a closed off room.

He closed the door and ran straight to the bathroom, flicking the lightswitch up. Thank god, it worked. He washed his face off and walked back out.

Jake looked at her and smirked. He slid his backpack off and sat down next to her on the edge of the bed.

He saw shivering after a while and sighed. He layed down next to her and pulled her close to him, closing his eyes.

He smiled a bit and yawned, falling asleep quickly. He was exausted.
