The people who don't belive in God...they tell us to belive that there is no God and they want us to belive their story. Well, they tell us not to make them belive our story. I understand that. But why should we belive you're story if you will not belive ours?
-
We don't have to belive your story and you don't have to belive ours. So why is this a problem?
-
Both groups don't HAVE to believe the other group's beliefs. The other group and the other group are just trying to persuade the other group to believe their beliefs. But they aren't forced into it.
And it's believe guys, not belive. -
It's also belief. But that's beside the point.
Christians try and get Atheists to believe in God for a variety of reasons. Kudos with God, a warm fuzzy feeling, a sense of superiority, ect.
Atheists try and get Christians to stop believing in God for one reason. To think logically and shrug off bronze aged ideology. -
No one ever said either side was trying to convince the other.
-
e.e Actually, that's been said repeatedly. Because it does happen. Both sides are trying to prove they're right over the other, trying to make others believe what they believe. I have to be grateful for those who hear other people's beliefs, nod, and say, "That's interesting." But there aren't too many people like that, because human nature seems to dictate that being wrong will kill you.
-
Why should it matter that both groups are trying to persuade the other into it's beliefs? Both sets of people are trying to steer other people into what they believe to be the right path. Basically, they're trying to either save someone else's soul or teach them how the world really works through science. In both cases, it's an act of kindness.

Goodiee. Another religion debate about atheists and God. Meh prefered argueing with wiccans.

-
I honestly believe that as long as you are a good person you don't go to Hell. I mean, God is supposed to be merciful.

ALTER2EGO -to- SISTER1D & RASCAL1178:
There is no such thing as literal hellfire torment in the Bible. When the Bible speaks of hell it's with reference to mankind's common grave. The words "hell" and "Hades" and "Sheol" and "Pit" are all synonyms that mean "the grave".
DEFINITION OF HELL:
"The abode of the dead, identified with the Hebrew Sheol and the Greek Hades; the underworld."

Then I would assume that there is no such thing as Heaven either? Or God, seeing as to how Hell doesn't exist, therefore nothing else?

BY THE WAY THIS IS REALLY ANNOYING -

Actually, in Greek mythology, everyone goes to Hades' Kingdom. e_e
There is no 'Heaven', only Hades unless a God/Goddess grants you immortality. Then you go to Olympus. But even with Hades, not everyone is punished, only those who deserve it.
