If you DON'T believe in God, can you tell me why? I just want to know what's your reason.
-
I believe God should feel the need to react. If you notice how crappy the world is, I think it is pretty easy to see that God isn't there.
-
I see no good reason for believing in a religious deity besides silly threats that are never carried out.
-
He let Hunter die, therefore, I feel he doesn't deserve for me to believe in him. I was listening to the most depressing Dir En Grey songs last night, since I don't cry when I'm sad, so I try to force the tears with emotional music.
-
I was raised as a Christian... And believe me, I would love to be one, still. That would save me many of the worries about my future. And maybe I wouldn't have to listen to my grandmother warn me to always follow god's word, and read the bible, and pray, and want to tell her I can't..
I am not a Christian. I cannot believe in god. This is not a will not. This is a can't. I tried for a very long time. Religion became horribly depressing and suffocating. Around the time I was eleven, anytime I tried to pray, or even thought about god, I'd cry. Death terrified me, because I couldn't make myself believe I'd be going anywhere afterward. I tried to reason out how there could be a god, in any logic I could find... But there was none. So I can't.
And anyway, god is being painted as a sadistic hypocrite as it is. -
The burden of proof belongs to the person making the accusation.

None of those reasons make any since (to me). How was the universe created? What is powerful to create us? Those are the questions I need answers to.
-
The universe being created isn't confirmed yet. The most widely accepted theory and the most scientifically based is the big bang. It involves sub atomic particles, massive wave lengths, quantum physics, and a singularity. Not to mention a whole lot of technical terms that I don't feel like looking up right now. (Do your own damn research)
As for what "created" us? Nothing. We are the offspring of genetic mutation and evolution. We are the most adapted for what our bodies and our environment needed us to do, and so we became what we are through evolution. -
Then what created the particles that caused the big bang?
-
The conversation Goes like this:
"Where did the universe come from?"There are three answers to this question.
-God did it.
-The big bang.
-The universe has always been here.
If you say God did it then you raise another question: "Where did God come from?"
Which the only answer theism has is that God is eternal. So why cheat the first step and throw in an extra? Wouldn't it just make more sense to say that the universe is eternal without having to blame it on a wizard?
The second answer to where the universe come from is the Big bang. As you've already happily demonstrated, this raises another question:Where did the big bang come from?"
There are two answers to this.
-It just happened because of infinite improbability.
-A series of virtual particles popping in and out of existence that through false vacuum being the original source, compressed these into a tiny primeval atom in an inconceivably dense spot. A singularity ocured, causing the primordial universe to expand. This is due to subatomic quarks, which are the most basic elements annihilating each other at fast speeds, releasing energy and creating the first atoms whose nuclei, when combined make other elements we know we are made up of to this very day and are found in comets and other planets, making this an emergent reality that would eventually have to fall into place. Having emergence, life is incredible, but most likely not the product of the supernatural.
And then there is the third answer, "The universe has always been here."
Personally, given the physics of the universe, I am not inclined to believe that it is eternal. But when we delve into the origins of it, I am more likely to believe the word of the men who have researched and physically provable data, as compared to the guy who read a book. Just sayan. -
Moyashi, I feel like I should answer this for you, and I am in now way trying to jam my opinion down your throat. Maybe God took Hunter because he wanted Hunter to join him in heaven. Maybe he took Hunter because if Hunter continued living, something very bad would have happened to Hunter, something very unpleasant or painful. Maybe God took Hunter because if Hunter continued living, he would have become a very evil person and would have gone to hell. Or maybe, God decided that Hunter deserved to see to have constant happiness in heaven with him. There are endless reasons, maybe none of these are correct, but I believe that God knows what's best for us.
-
Hikaru, how do you know these things won't be carried out?
-
Do you people ever fucking read before you post?
Leave Hunter out of religion you little shit.
End of story. -
I agree with bob, you little shit.
-
I'm just answering Moyashi's question, sorry if I offended you or that's a sensitive subject. Take it up with Mo
