First, let me get one thing straight because while you didn't say it, many other's believe it.
CATHOLICS DO NOT PRAISE OR WORSHIP MARY
We ask her to pray for us since she is the "Mother of God" and is considered to be the "Queen of Heaven". While God is not her son, she bore Jesus when he came as a human to suffer and die for our sins. She was born without original sin, which no human was ever born like that besides her since Adam and Eve (remember, Jesus Christ is considered to be both human and divine, so he is God, therefore he is incapable of being born with original sin). We basically believe she has influence on God because of the fact that she is his "mother". There's actually a Bible story about that. In the story Mary and Jesus go to a wedding and they run out of wine. Mary asks Jesus for help and he, out of respect of his mother, turned water into wine for the wedding even though it was not yet time for him to allow himself to be known to anyone outside of his "immediate family" [Mary and Joseph (his foster father)]. -
By "not her son" I mean she was a virgin therefore Jesus was not created through sexual conception.

Jesus existed long before Mary, for he is God and God is outside of time.

Mary is not considered Jesus' foster mother. She is considered his mother, unlike Joseph who is considered his foster father. Jesus' father is God the Father.

Mary never performed any miracles and she NEVER sinned. She was born WITHOUT SIN through the Immaculate Conception. The closest thing to a miracle she did was say yes when the angel Gabriel told her that she was going to be conceived with Jesus by the Holy Spirit.
There is actually a reason that Mary was born without original sin. Jesus, being God, is so perfect that he couldn't be born from someone whose soul was blackened with sin. -
