You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his.
"Understandable. But using "Oh my God" isn't swearing." Usin those words are swearing. It is using the Lord's name in vain.
You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, 'You shall not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.
"What has that got to with swearing?" Murdering does not just refer to physical abuse and stabbing, raping, ending life etc. It is also bringing others down and therefore using harsh/offensive language.
But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God's curse! As we have.
"Wut? ._." If you don't preach and spread the good news with love you shall be cursed. We should be looking for oppurtunitis to spread the good news and hope others see the good in us and ask why we are like that. If we do not swear, gossip etc we are more likely to be noticed as different. We should try to live like Jesus did. -

Swearing isn't as harsh as murdering. I'd rather be cursed at than murdered.

In the bible murdering does not just refer to ending a life. Murder is hating one's brother. If you swear, hate, gossip, disrespect you murder them.
You do not have to shove your religion down others' throats. You should look for oppurtunities to spread the good news so they to can be saved. Keeping it to yourself is selfish and greedy. By acting differently you will stand out. If you don't follow what everyone else does such as swearing you will stand out and people will wonder why you don't swear. By telling them why, you are giving them a great oppurtunity to get to know God. -
Okay, I'm not disagreeing with you, or trying to start something. I think you're an awesome person, ange, I really do. You're patient and nice and everything, but I just can't see JITW as the same (If we step back).

I make up an imaginary Hell to avoid truth? Just because I have a different opinion of Hell means it's wrong? You have never seen Hell nor have you seen Heaven. Therefore, whichever one is paradise could actually be torment. I sometimes feel as if I've been to Hell and back. It's not bad, green moon and a pink witch is what I've felt is there. Some Christians are just so hypocritical.
