I went to a Christian school for 5 years, and then studied religion for the next 9. My research fields also span out into chemistry, psychology, physics, and history. You cover a broad spectrum when you're having to argue with people like this at least once a week. And if I seem harsh, put yourself in that situation and tell me you wouldn't be.

MoonlightNinja NewbieOkay, I ain't starting another fight, I'm just stating a opinion.
Religion isn't always about hard facts, but belief. Religion can also be a bit of facts, just not all the time.
Sorry if I started anything and not knowing. I was just protecting God who has been there for me when no one has. -
Imaginary friends do tend to be there when no one else is.
And if you believe in something without factual evidence, then I will dismiss it and insult it as such.
Please explain to me 1 fact about religion that points towards it? I'm not talking about some off the wall obscure fact that has nothing to do with your wizard in the sky or cosmic zombie. I want something FACTUAL that actually pertains to religion. -
MoonlightNinja NewbieWell, I give you one fact that doesn't involve believing.
When we pray to the lord to ask for help on something, we harbour the strength to accomplish what are goal is. Give you quick summary. My first basketball game, we were losing, time almost out. I had a secret rosary in my shorts pocket. I prayed a quick Hail Mary. I suddenly got the strength to finish our game, knowing God is up there blessing my team. We won that game.
That's the scientific reason or whatever. -
that's an opinion and post hoc ergo propter hoc. A logical fallicy without any actual evidence to support it. Only your opinion.
-
maybe some peopple dont want or need sientific belief to believe somthing
-
All the more reason to fight it so harshly.
-
7 minutes with no response, I'm going to sleep. I'll respond tomorrow.
-
i had to wait, but ill wait for tomorrow
and i dont think neither of us are doing nothing harshly, but i think i may have read your post wrong. and im saying, everybody has opinions, maybe christans dont need facts to think hat they think are true, who says scientist are always correct too? one day they could have made a mistake, many scientist have made mistakes before, why not now -
(typing this from school)
Science does make mistakes. But the difference between science and religion is that science admits it was wrong and will try and better itself with the newfound information. There are still theists who don't believe in evolution and that the earth is only a few thousand years old. This is what's harming our society today. And that is yet another reason why I am so adament against religion. -
and in the bible, it says god came from heaven a few times, just because the people didnt believe jesus was his son, so excuse me if you werent born early enough to accually witnees god on earth.
and have you seen the people on the news, then they die then come back to life? well maybe they weret lying. maybe they acually saw heaven
and maybe again, christians dont need facts, they believe based off an option if they wanna believe or not -
In the lingering moments before you die, your brain releases DMT; the same drug that it produces when you dream. It bases the dream on what would make you happiest. If someone believed they were going to heaven, they'd see heaven. if someone believed they were going to hell, they'd see hell.
I love it when theists use the "seeing heaven" argument against me, because I have actually drowned before and was legally dead. Do you know what I saw? I saw a purple dragon and my family. Seeing things when you die doesn't mean anything. And if you want to continue using that as your thesis, then my purple dragon is as provable as your God. And I'd rather have the dragon.
And if you want to use a religious text to decide when and what an incorporeal being does, then God coming to earth is as credible as Loki stealing the moon every time there was an eclipse. Just ask the Nords. -
How bout we listen to christian music?
