This really shows the violent side of Christianity. :/ I have never understood what's the big deal about believing in God...

You have to read passages before and after to understand the true meaning.
-
(Psalm 137:9)
Happy shall he be who takes and smashes your children against rocks.
Please tell me the proper way to interpret this because I'm not seeing one. -
In fact, tell me how any of these should be interpreted. I'm not seeing anything that presents itself as the pure and happy religion you're claiming it is. You've been fed a pretty lie. Take your losses and move on.
-
Do not take it completely literally. A parents duty is to punish their children so they can learn from their mistakes. Just like God tests us.
-
I'm lol-ing pretty hard right now.
-
By not taking the bible literally you are leaving the idea of God's word being open to interpretation. Interpretation means that people will see God differently. Congratulations, by not taking the bible literally, you should be stoned in the streets. Honestly, you need to work on your faith a bit better. Or else you might get sick. And besides, you shouldn't be talking back to me in the first place. Come on, if you were really a Christian you would know full well that women are obviously inferior. It's as obvious as how Bats are birds or how rabbits have hooved feet. It's all in there. Read your book better.

Poverbs 20:30
Physical punishment cleanses away evil; such discipline purifies the heart. -
So we should beat our children? You're not making a good case for yourself here. just think, what would Jesus do?
-
NOT beating our children. A simple smack on the bottom is enough. Children will NOT learn from their mistakes unless we teach them right and wrong.
Imagine having a child. Imagine that they run across the road to retreive a ball and are almost hit with a car. If that child is not whacked on the bottom they will NOT learn. They will continue to run across the road. It IS a parents duty to teach and punish their children to PROTECT them. -
So now you're comparing running across the street to Evil? I think you're giving the kid a little too much credit here. Either that or you're using a connection that doesn't exist. In either case the point you're trying to make is illogical.
-
And besides, you're giving your interpretation of the bible as a definition. let's look at the actual King James text.
"The blueness of a wound cleanseth away evil: so do stripes the inward parts of the belly."
I don't see anything that sounds like a light hearted smack on the butt. -
It is also a parent's duty to teach their children right from wrong like I said above. A parent must teach their children the 10 commandments and explain them. This way a child will be aware when they sin. Sin IS evil.

Face it, ange. You ain't winnin this.
