Proverbs Chapter 15 verses 1-7
MOUTH GUARD
If you've ever fallen over and your mouth has been filled with dirt you'll know how awful it feels. Your mouth is filled with bitterness and you may even be stuggling to breathe. Straight away, you want to clean out your mouth and get rid of the foulness.
When we use foul langauge our mouths are filled with dirt. The dirt is engulfing us and is threatening to strangle us. Foul words and thoughts take over the good thoughts and sayings until they completely take over and bury them deep down.
When a person speaks gently and kindly people are more likely to welcome them as a friend and be grateful for their presence. They will listen and appreciate. But a person who speaks evil and thinks foul thoughts are not popular. People will not like them.
Would you always want to be around foul mouthed people? Would you want to be surrounded by people throwing put downs at you and making you feel worthless?
A wise person commends knowledge, but the mouth of a fool gushes madness. The tongue that brings healing is a tree of life but a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit.
We need to control what we say and what we think. We must use words of the truth and be kind and bring others up instead of down.
BE CAREFUL OF YOUR THOUGHTS- THEY MAY BECOME WORDS AT ANY TIME.
PRAYER
Dear God,
Please help us to control our tongues.
Please help us to encourage eachother and help one another. Clean our mouths and rid of any harsh language or critical thoughts.
Please help us to honor you today.
