I'm a Christian so I pray to God, read the bible, go to church etc. I don't understand why Catholics pray to Mary. In the 10 commandments it says to only pray to one God and to have no idols.
Also, why are Catholic Priests not allowed to marry? And why are you only allowed to get married in a chursh once. What if you get divorsed because your husband/wife slept with someone else? It's impossibe to know that would happen.
Thanks :) -
I'm a Christian as well.
I don't understand why Catholics pray to Mary, either. I asked my friend the other day and she says because Mary is an important figure in the Catholic church and she was Jesus' mother and apparently "chosen" by God to have Jesus.
The next question, why Catholic priests aren't allow to marry, I don't know why either. I honestly think it's terribly unfair. People can marry if they want. As for the marriage question, I honestly don't know either o.O and don't understand.
Which is why I'm not Catholic. I don't get that religion. It seems so screwed up, bro. -
ADD- Reading back at my last post, I sounded rude and biased towards Catholics. I'm sorry. What I meant by the religion being "screwed up" was that I don't understand it. Sorry if it seemed offensive.

Yeah, I'd really like to know these things but no one in my family knows. My aunty and uncle do but they just argue with you and refuse to listen. It's pointless talking to them and to be honest I don't like them at all.

I'm catholic. And I'm not offended at all! :) Honestly, my family and I don't follow any type of a religion. We're spiritual! :) AND I BELIEVE IN CRYPTIDS! :D

@ ange it's because in the beginnig of the early church the catholics did their own thing, they worship to mary because she's the mother of Jesus, and to Peter because he was the rock of the church, they havve turned away from the truth, honestly i disagree with catholics and anglicans on their own principles, like penece

Catholics have not turned away from the faith. Praying to Mary and Peter doesn't mean they have turned from the faith. While Catholics hold Jesus in the highest regard as the son of God, they do also honor and occasionally pray to saints as saints are seen as messengers of God and pardon to His Holiness, if that makes any sense. It's an absolute fallacy that Catholicism is the cult of Mary and Peter, as I think some of you have been taught. I live in a very Catholic community and have relatives who are Catholic, so while I am not Catholic myself, I've been around the faith enough to know what it is all about.

Samantha2332 JuniorWe pray to the Virgin Mary because she was sent from God, and as explained earlier. You can only marry once in the catholic church because we do not support divorce, sure there are complications that could have happened in a first marriage, and then you engage again and want to marry again in the church, but we just don't see to the complications. We don't neccasarily pray to the saints, we do believe that they are the messangers of God, and so we are basically still praying to God. It is a very difficult religion to understand, and it's very hard to explain. I geuss you'd have to be raised a Catholic like me to understand.

Infinity NewbieI agree with the two previous comments. I grew up in a catholic family entirely. But I am still young.

Yeah, I'm Catholic too, and so is my whole family. You have to be a Catholic to understand it. It's kinda difficult for me to explain....
