My idea is that all humans have some need to be spiritual. Many people use religion to explain the world and find meaning in life.
Even though I'm a faithful Christian I admire all people who can believe is something other than just themselves. It's humbling. I'd rather be considered stupid and be happy and religious than considered a intellectual but have something empty in my life. -
yah im christian 2 its jest been lik a mystery

Yeah, all I know for myself is that when I worship God it's the best peace and understanding I've ever felt.

Sweetaritra, if you're going to express your opinion, be grammatically correct. Or else you'll be written off as ignorant and discredited. You give yourself a bad first impression when you can't even spell your claim, let alone defend it.
Religion originated as a means to explain the explainable. That's why all Gods are explained with human qualities, and all divine acts are explained with human examples. As it grew larger and more influential, it had to diversify to take in new cultures and political aspects. They realized that religion was a good motivator. Do as I say and you'll appease God; so to speak. Those people in charge changed religion, the people who retold it and had to adapt it, changed religion, and people in power changed it and corrupted it to match their own means. Hence why pharaohs were Gods, Kings were the tools of Gods, Priests were the words of Gods, and so on and so forth. People with power, needed Godly power to use religious influence. And religion bent to fit what they wanted.
The reason we have so many religions is once Religious influence became less tyrannical and more subliminal people had the choice of which versions of the same religion they wanted to follow, and thus creating all the different versions we see today.
On a further note, I find the need to comment on something you mentioned Ana. Any emptiness you think you would feel for being Godless would be self imposed. We are no more empty than anyone else.
