I was always told that you have to be a believer to get into heaven.
Nobody ever mentioned about whether or not the person was good hearted and had a good personality..
So, what happens if you ARE a goood person, but you just don't believe in God? Do you still go to Hell?
Or do you just have to have both? Be religious and have a good personality? Is that what gets you there?
I just want to hear what everyone else believes about the whole Personality and Faith thing. -
in my opinion, i think if someone's a genuinely good person and goes to hell because he doesn't believe in god
GOD IS UNFAIR. just saying. -
I think my position on the discussion is clear and simple.
-
To me I think you just have to be a good person to go to Heaven, because not everyone knows everything in the world so why should a good guy who never believed in God go to hell?
-
Here's my random thoughts.
God made us
He is happy with us
He loves us
These are someone else's beliefs.
If God loves us, why does he send us to Hell?
Why didn't he make us like he wanted us?
Why does he have to punish when he could have just made us obey?
Sure, we have choices. Great.
I choose not to believe in Him because I have no reason to believe.
So I'm going to Hell. For eternal torment.
Because God doesn't tell us what to do. Because he disappointing my prayers
He left us
He doesn't care.
This is life. Believe what you want. I encourage you to believe in him. Direct your prayers to him. Just don't expect an answer. -
I guess you could say the main reason I believe is because I've been raised on it my whole life.
Also generations of my family believe and I feel like I would be turning my back on them if I didn't.
Since you all REALLY needed an explanation other than I believe just because I do.
Go ahead. Call me scared. Say I'm afraid to leave my comfort zone.
But to me it's even more out of respect for my entire family, not myself.
If this post turns out to be a total train wreck, well, damn my s---ty explanation skills. -
s--- I'm gonna have to double post.
But I forgot something.
If I were afraid to leave my comfort zone, I wouldn't ever discuss this.
To me "comfort zone" is where I know I won't have to face my worst fear of being called weak.
In that case this is definitely out of my comfort zone, because I can tell someone is going to call me weak for some reason.
GTQ needs a damn edit button. (goes to Feedback to rant) -
tongue AdvancedThis question is irrelevant because God doesn't exist. But the Mormons are closest to being correct- good works and kindness count and will get you into Heaven, but the highest throngs of Heaven reserved for believers. Yes, Mormons believe there are different Heavens. I don't think that's crazy.

There is such a place as Purgatory, where all people must suffer for their sins before going to Heaven, for those who are indeed going to Heaven. If you are a genuinely good person, bu not a believer, you will not go to Hell, since God is forgiving (or so they say). But, they will spend a longer-lasting time in Purgatory, like a temporary Hell.
Hope I cleared things up for you.

I always thought Purgatory was a place balanced people would go to. Mostly good would go to Heaven, mostly bad would go to Hell, and in between would go to Purgatory. Eh, I got it all from a science fiction book xD
-
Naw, nobody's all good, so you suffer for every sin in Purgatory. If you are mostly bad, you go straight to Hell, but if you are for the most part good, you go to Heaven, though Purgatory comes first.
;) -
And nobody is all bad.

But what if the person molested baby panda's, killed endangered animals for fun and murdered babies, but believed in God. Would they still go to heaven, even though they led a terrible life, just for believing in God?
