Thread Topic: A question
-
I just watched The Exorcsim, and a question popped up.
People are always looking for proof that God exists.
But, what would happen if you actually found proof? Think. Would it 'cause everyone to believe in God, people to rebel, would you just wait around, not give a s---, would you change your faith, what?
Let's say it was top notch proof. And it really did prove God existed, to whatever high standards you have.
Well, after thinking it over, my answer is that at that point I wouldn't WANT to find out >.> I want to live a life where everyone can chose what they want to believe in. And if God wanted to be found out, he would have shown and proven himself already anyway :P
...Scientist is still a good idea, but maybe not for religion also.
So what are your thoughts after thinking it over? What would you do if you found proof of God? -
I probably live my life completly towards him.
-
I wouldn't care.
-
I already know in my heart God exists, my problem is sometimes I forget and lose touch with him sometimes. xP
-
I'd be thinking of how it meant all those things I did really were worthwhile.
-
I'd stay the same religion I'm in now, which is technically rebelling and NOT rebelling at the same time :P so it's a win-win for me.
-
I wouldn't change anything. I already believe in him. >.
-
tongue AdvancedI'm not sure what kind of proof I could possibly stumble upon.
-
I would try to find out more about him. I'd also become really pissy, because I don't like being wrong. All considering, I'd be mad.
-
I'd ask him this question...
Is god willing to stop evil, but not capable?
Then he is incompitant.
Is he able, but not willing?
Then he is sadistic.
Is he both willing and capable?
Then why is there evil?
And if he is neither?
Why call him "god" at all? -
He's capable and willing. All bad things happen for a reason.
-
Capable and willing, but he also gave people "free will."
-
I agree with Companion Cube...
-
I agree with Britt and Appay.
-
So he is capable but not willing... If he were truely capable and willing, he would stop evil. You're saying he wants us all to have to fight for our very existance and live in fear and missery so that he can decide if we are worthy of his kingdom?
Another thing, Why is their evil? You can blame it on Satan, but why is their Satan? If god is truely the heart of all good, then how is that a being he made from himself, his favorite angel, turned so far against him?
Also, why is everyones rendition of Heaven human based? Why is it that "The divine truth" is limited to only what humans can imagine. Think about it, every religion is based off of something humans can relate to. It's either the hatching of some cosmic egg, the love child of two super deities, or in christianities perspective, the work of some supreme carpenter.
Why is it that "The ultimate truth" should limit itself to what humans can percieve? If god is truely limitless, why isnt his kingdom?
