The song itself was rather offending to me...well, it wasn't horrible, I mean, there's definately much worse stuff on the radio.
But the music video...
I don't plan on ever watching it again. I thought it was pretty offending, in my opinion. Dx
I don't know if Lady Gaga is trying to insult christians, or if she just doesn't know what in the heck she's talking about.
She said the religous groups who were offended by the music video shouldn't be offended, because she "got the lyrics from God himself".
In an article, she also said she wasn't trying to purposely insult people. She said she just put all that religous stuff in the video because she likes religous art.
Now that is a very, very, stupid excuse.
When Lady Gaga first started getting popular, I wasn't a huge fan of hers, but I didn't hate her, either.
Now...I'm really beginning to dislike her more and more.
Your opinions on Lady Gaga's "Judas" video? -
Indredibly stupid. Lady Gaga is so messed up. She's gone downhill from when she started.
-
I wonder what audience she's trying to attract.
-
I like the tune, and beat and s---, I did'nt pay attention to the words much. But eh, it's a fine song to me.
I like her music... -
I didn't like it because I don't like the analogy of Judas.
-
I'm listening to it right now.lol
Judas was a sinner, and yes he turned in jesus. But he was still a human being, and Christians are supposed to be like God. God loves Judas, yet we shun him.
Another reason Christianity confuses me. -
An interesting note is that all of the Apostles had a book in the bible. The book of John. The book of Peter. No one ever notices that you never see the book of Judas. It is because Judas's book was shunned in the 1400's. If you ever get the chance to read the book of Judas, do it.
It actually explains how Judas was Jesus's favorite. And Jesus actually wanted Judas to turn him in. Jesus knew that by dying when he did, he would make a much more powerful impact on society than he ever could any other way. Because early rulers didnt want the idea of a traitor being the good guy to be okay, they removed the book of Judas from the bible. And taught the new version hoping that no one would notice. :P -
That's also Judas's perspective of the situation. Jesus had a group of favorites of his disciples and I don't know them off the top of my head, but I should. I at least know John was one of them. Nakita, can you back me up here? And also the fact that Judas accepted money for the exchange of Jesus also is a sign of greed.
But to be honest, I'm really not sure what Judas's fate was. Again, Nakita can you back me up? -
Haven't seen the video or heard the song yet. :P
Honestly, I really don't like the fact that he traded the son of God for a merely some pieces of silver. Also the trial for Jesus was unfair and unjust. Yet all of that led up to the crucifixion. The way I see it is all these horrible things happened, and Jesus died an extremely horrible death to give the world salvation. If, Judas ever did repent and accepted Jesus, then he was given salvation. But nobody can ever really tell what is in someone's heart for sure, except God.
Anyways, all I know is Lady Gaga uses a lot of symbolism and religious art. I was reading about the born this way video and found out some interesting possibilities. Whether she consciously does it or doesn't understand some of the meaning behind what she uses is debatable.
But I don't listen to a lot of new music anyway. xP -
Wether Jesus wanted Judas to turn him in or not doesn't matter.
First of all, Jesus had told his disciples more than once that he was going to die, and at the last supper, he even told them that one of them would betray him. But Judas didn't think that Jesus wanted to die. In fact, none of the disciples really understood about Jesus' death until a little later after Jesus rose again.
So, Judas turned Jesus in and betrayed him for thirty pieces of silver. It was a greedy, selfish thing to do and there's really no way to make it a good thing.
And Jesus didn't neccesarily WANT to die, he had to. I mean, imagine if somebody was attacking your kids or just any member of your family. So what do you do? Run away or help your family? Your life or the lives of your family? Most likely, you'd die for them. That's basically what Jesus did. Did he want to die? No. But he had to. So the fact that Lady Gaga was made a song about how great Judas was is a bit disturbing to me. :/
And @Brit:
I don't remember Jesus' favored disciples...but I think Mark was one of them. And Judas hung himself from guilt after Jesus was crucified. -
Did we just ignore everything I posted above.
-_- Figures.. -
I don't find anything offending about it. Its basically a song about how Lady Gaga loved a man that betrayed her. Simple as that. Besides, in it she says "Jesus is my virtue, Judas is the demon that I cling to."
-
Haylii2 NewbieI love it.Its basicly just about god(which is rare in Gaga's case) but its perfect in where i stand.
@Heph Nicies! -
Haylii, it's really not about him at all. I don't think Lady Gaga's goal was to glorify God through that song, In fact I percieve it as a n insult.
Heph, what did we ignore? -
