Ever noticed how almost all of the holidays people celebrate were turned into gift giving days? Hmph.. what ever happened to the religious part? Honestly, giving gifts on Easter is like giving gifts on Passover. It. Shouldn't. Happen. And I know kids think it's great, and they have fun with their little egg hunts, but what ever happened to the religious meaning of the holiday? What happened to going to church and praying? What happened to being holy? Just something I was wondering...

Easter is my favorite holiday, and I honestly don't give a crap about the eggs.
You're not alone, I blame capitalism. (Go ahead politics people, call me a Communist. But Communists don't believe in religion so you're wrong) -
tongue AdvancedChristianity has constantly been selling itself from the time of its invention. Alot of the practices of the Catholic Church were adopted from Paganism to get more followers in the early Church. And missionary work is almost exclusive to Christianity. b------izing Christmas and Easter is just another way of peddling Christianity, because there's more money to be made when a holiday isn't so exclusively religious.

I dislike all this selling out of holidays, I never even do anything for Easter but reflect on how thankful I am.
I think it's okay to some extent to do sweet fun things for kids, but I don't like too much gift giving. That's not what the holiday is about. My church is going to do a play Sunday about Easter which I believe is a good balance between fun and creative and also meaningful and spiritual.
