DarknessNight NewbieWhat would you like to know my friend?
-
Hey so you've told me what you've been raised believing. But what do you personally believe?
-
DarknessNight NewbieMe personally.
I do believe there is a God. I don't believe he judges you by what you wear or anything like that. I believe there are things God doesn't like, but we as Christians aren't supposed to judge others.
We are supposed to show the love of Christ.
I guess that sums up what I believe. -
Then yes I totally I agree with you! The principles of our faith is the same. No, God is not going to condemn you or anything for wearing something weird. I mean, there are suggestions like being modest, but I don't think it's necessary for your salvation or anything. And yeah, there is something in the bible how we are not supposed to judge others. We can hold others accountable, but not condemn.
And I believe my faith is all about the love of Christ. You know, that story in Matthew, about how the Pharisees tested Jesus, saying which was the most important law. And Jesus replied, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself." Ah, I love that verse ^-^ -
DarknessNight NewbieSee, the thing I do t lime is me and my parents clash on our beliefs. They believe I have to dress a certain way. I had a person tell me one time that I needed to seek out my own salvation. I have been trying to do that, but with my parents and how they believe, it can be kind of difficult.

Argh it really vexes me when people make Christianity all about religion. Because it's not like that. Other religions say you have to do this and that and they are so many rules. But the word Christianity came from people being Christ followers. And that's all it is really, having a relationship with Jesus. And like every relationship, if you want to keep it strong, you have to talk with God! You have to want to follow him, to love him. And he already loves you no matter what. I love God with all my heart. So naturally, I want to do what he says. So I think Christianity really is centered on love, not on just doing everything right.
As for your salvation, I don't doubt you. It's a personal matter between you and God, people can't judge you on whether you're saved or not. And if your confused on whether you are saved, just ask God to show you. And listen.
I can't change your parent's minds. The best anybody can do is pray, though. And God always answers, there's a verse for that. The answer could just be wait, though. But stay strong to what you believe in, pray, and God will come through.
I learned that if you seek God above all else, then answers will follow. But if you just seek answers, without God, you're going to have a much harder time, friend.
