The existence of Heaven and Hell has been debated by many.
Christians and other similar religions I am sure will obviously say they exist.
Many other religions indirectly speak of Heaven and Hell, some say that those who were bad will go to a place of endless suffering whilst those who were good will go to a place of endless happiness.
Other religions believe in reincarnation instead, but still speak of those who were evil having to pay for their sins before they move on to their next lives, meaning that there is a temporary Hell.
But some religions state that once one dies, they simply no longer exist.
Has there ever been proof of Heaven and Hell?
Lets start with what proof there is that Heaven and Hell do not exist...
If all that is evil is sent to hell, why is there still evil on Earth? Some of you may say that demons can leave hell and come to Earth? So what is the point of hell, the place of infinite suffering, when you can leave it and come to Earth, where obviously you won't be suffering.
Why are there ghosts still roaming the Earth? If there was Heaven and Hell why haven't the ghosts of the deceased moved on to their respective places.
So now what proof is there really for the existence of Heaven and Hell?
Besides the Holy Books of the respective religions, what other proof could there possibly be for Heaven and Hell...
I looked but I couldn't find... Maybe you did?Moderator -
According to my religion, one will go to heaven or hell after the Judgement Day -- according to what he did in his earthly years -- be it a human, or a demon.
Now, if you believe that God exists, then you will surely believe that there is heaven or hell. Because, for example, if you treat somebody here unfairly, that person should be treated fairly and God will treat them fairly by sending you to hell or by doing the "barter system" -- you treated him unfairly, he will treat you unfairly. Or you served people here on earth till your last breath, lived your life only for the service of others, you had nothing to eat yet you did not keep your neighbours hungry, and if you don't get any reward, it will be injustice. And you will be rewarded by God -- you will go to heaven.
For the sake of fair judgement, there is heaven and hell. -
I personally don't believe in Hell, but it was never going to affect me anyway, so it doesn't really matter.
The bible describes hell as less of a real place and more of a separation from God. Therefore I see it more as returning to none existence rather than eternal torture. When the bible actually does describe hell in detail, a more accurate translation is Gehenna, an actual location on Earth where worshipers of Baal would gather to sacrifice children by burning them alive, Sheol, which literally means 'the place of the dead,' and Tartarus or Hades. Using one word to describe three very different ideas has obviously caused confusion in the modern age, and it's important to always check with the original texts to make sure your belief is solid. Jesus was using the location as an example of an unholy, evil place. Hence Matthew 18:9.
Of course, I've never really discussed this with anyone, so I'm not sure how well it holds up in an actual argument. For all I know, it could crumble at the slightest pressure and I'd need to change opinions.
Also, as an added question to this thread, are people saved through belief, or saved through actions? -
damn I thought this was a macoo post at first
While heaven and hell may not be in all religions most of them (except stuff like LaVey) have concepts of being rewarded for good actions and punished for bad. This is needed in any society as otherwise it would become very far from altruistic. If anything was true because of how many religions featured it it would be this.
It is featured in monotheistic religions (Christinanity, Islam, Judaism), polytheistic religions (Hinduism), pantheistic religions (Sikhism kind of?), and religions which have no real god (Buddhism). So it's far from other religions copying each other as a lot of these arose from very different circumstances.
So I managed like 100 words of pointless fluff on the topic to look intelligent which didn't move the conversation anywhere. -
^geek is just fabulous
that was all just-
