Thread Topic: Do you believe in God?

and THAT is in ITSELF EVEN... a fact.

Opinions are basically preferences or desires. Facts are supposed to be based on truth. I think what you're saying is that if new information comes in that proves a fact to be false, then facts can be proven false, right Lulu?
But at the heart of any conversation or debate should be an honest desire to find truth. Truth will always be truth, regardless of our personal preferences or whether we have discovered the full truth. True reason is established by what is and not what we wish or think reality is. I believe that we can discover the truth.
So my answer to the thread's question is yes, I believe in the God of the Bible, Who is specific and has revealed Himself in His Word, first through the Old Covenant with Israel and now through the New Covenant by the blood of Jesus Christ. He is knowable, having made claims of absolute truth, prophecies and promises. His Way is the way of faith, which requires humility and cannot be found through human pride. It comes by hearing Him, what He has to say. Anyone can listen and see for themselves if He is real.
We shouldn't shy away from hard topics and questions. A discussion on spirituality should not descend into insults, stereotypes, and hatred. It should be about finding truth. I never come here to force my opinions on others, but to first seek truth myself. I simply believe the truth is knowable and independent from human opinion. -
@ Anastasia
Yeah, thats exactly what i was trying to get across to bootleg fascist. thank you for making it more clear. -
No prob. :3

Do I believe in God? Yes
Do I believe God helps people? No -
@Bootleg
a scientific deduction is required to be falsifiable. A fact is a scientific deduction, no? and you cannot prove that that is falsifiable without disproving it, making a fact able to be right OR wrong. -
This is still happening

Okay. So earlier in this thread (idk where) but I said I didn't believe. Well, until things clicked. This may be long idk.
I questioned a lot of things, I believe I said sex makes you. While that is true now, I do believe the first humans were made. I also had a lot of problems with the Bible, until I realized that God didn't technically write the Bible, and these are all interpretations from someone else. While after this realization, I still doubted it. Until I actually felt it. I felt something....different. I have noticed this feeling only occurred in church. I can't explain it, I almost broke down crying every time we went. I had daydreams about God, everything in my mind, was God. It didn't stop until I finally let him in. He truly wanted me. He wants us all. I do secretly pray about some things, which usually makes me break down crying in church. I still have the feeling when I go to church, but it's not scary anymore. You can call bulls--- all you want, but I know what I felt. I even told my grandma about it, and she thinks my heart was touched by God. She never experienced this. I am Catholic. I also want to say this, if you hate gay people or anything of the matter, you are not a good Catholic. I won't argue with anyone about this, because it will accomplish nothing. -
ColorsOfTheWind NewbieSomewhat, not entirely.
I believe that there MAY be a chance that he/she/they exist.
But I do have doubts, of course. But don't we all? -
I believe that there may be some higher power out there, but I don't believe that they played a part in the creation of any religious text. I believe that all religious texts are the product of mankind and their need to explain and control.

I agree with JaneDoe, but currently I am trying to figure things out myself. I have been raised in church all of my life, and I have strayed away from it. I have felt better and more at peace without a religion. My life went from a chaos filled hole, to something peaceful and quiet. I feel more free, if that makes any sense.

i used to, but that was false ideology. NOW... as adults we resort to the TRUTH. and that scares ME
-
I'm neutral on the topic. I was raised in a strictly Catholic family, was baptized and we had jesus statues and crosses everywhere. I was told if I took the lord's name in vain i would go to hell, which really scared me and i believed in him for quite awhile. Personally, I'm on the fence about whether a god even exists. Religion has caused a lot of turmoil in my family, so I tend to stray from it.

Nope. I see no reason to think there should be a god.
