I myself don't know how or why somebody could identify as an animal. But it isn't my place to judge them, and I'd support my friend if they were otherkin.

From what I saw from glancing at googles results it refers to people who claim to be part some other creature.
(Which wouldn't include aliens Alex.)
I wouldn't support my friend if they were an otherkin as its clearly nonsense -
If you support a dude claiming he's really a woman wgen he clearly has a dick and no feminine reproductive organs than you might as well support otherkin

I haven't done much research on the subject of the psychological factors that are actually relevent to otherkin, but what I've seen of them has always been... really discouraging. I have a hard time believing it's real because some of these people have Spongebob Squarepants and Hitler as "headmates" and sht, telling people to overlook it if they "accidentally" spew some really anti-semitic sht because it's Hitler talking, not them. It makes it really hard for me to believe they're not fake.

That's a good point slim, I suppose the difference is that they're not claiming to be inhuman. But they're still claiming to be something that they're physically not.
