Thread Topic: Many-worlds theory

In a nutshell this theory interprets the world as multiple dimensions that exist with each other. I'm sure you've heard that there are more than 3 dimensions in the world and logically the existence of infinite dimensions is possible.
So...if this theory/interpretation is true, everything like afterlife or even supernatural is possible to be real in other world...what do you think? -
Yay something to talk about.
Yes it's very likely. But I always thought the idea of other dimensions was about other worlds like ours possibly with the same people but doing different things which I thought was a stupid idea anyway. Didn't Stephen Hawking say something like that? That version of it makes no sense to me -
Which version doesn't make sense?
Apparently Steven Hawking mentioned this but he believes the other worlds are unreal or something. -
The idea that there are other worlds like ours living along side each other. Is that what you meant?
-
Yeah that's what some scientists believe in apparently.
-
Yes I believe this is possible and is true. See, when you get to a certain level of understanding, it all comes together. This idea is both neither a both of them are true. See, if you think of our universe as a flat sheet, then there are other, many possibly INFINITE other sheets lined up with ours. They may be similar to the point where the only difference is that I'm not typing this right now, or the physics of the entire universe could be completely different. These other universes are untouchable from our perspective because we cannot go "between" the sheets to get to another universe, we're limited to the spacial dimensions we have in our own universe or sheet. It becomes much more complex if you consider the fact that the universe isn't flat, but I won't go into that mainly because that would take a lot more explaining. I mighg do that tomorrow night though, if you want.
-
Yeah I'm actually interested to know how it's possible to consider each world as a flat sheet when we're confirmed to have 4 dimensions at least.
If we're going with the infinite dimensions theory, then are these 4 dimensions a part of these infinite dimensions? -
Heisenberg and Schrdinger get pulled over for speeding.
The cop asks Heisenberg "Do you know how fast you were going?"
Heisenberg replies, "No, but we know exactly where we are!"
The officer looks at him confused and says "you were going 108 miles per hour!"
Heisenberg throws his arms up and cries, "Great! Now we're lost!"
the officer now becoming quite frusterated, asked the pair to step out and sit on the curb, and then procceeds to look over the car and asks Schrdinger if the two men have anything in the trunk.
"A cat," Schrdinger replies.
The cop opens the trunk and yells "Hey! This cat is dead."
Schrdinger angrily replies, "Well he is now." -
The flat sheet idea is just a simplification of String Theory and M-theory. The infinite dimensions idea isn't dimensions as in ways you can travel, but different universes. The 4 dimensions we can travel in, [up-down, right-left, forward-backward, and time] are definitely not the only ones, though the others are "curled up" in a way that we can't travel in. the fifth dimension is that of all the possibilities of our future and past, and the sixth is a representation of all these possibilities as a point, meaning through this we could jump to any conceivable timeline possible. The seventh is taking all possible timelines into consideration from the big bang to the end of the universe and considering that a point. considering all other possible universes with different physics and initial Big Bang conditions and drawing a line is traveling through the seventh dimension. another line connecting to that in another way brings us to the eighth dimension, and folding this to jump to another line in eighth dimensional space is traveling into the 9th dimension where you're now considering all lines connecting all possible timelines of all possible universes. Treating all of this as a point brings you to the 10th dimension. the thing that makes this known as an 11 dimensional theory is that you consider that a point has 0 dimensions, so that adds one. The idea of having universes as sheets comes from the 10th (or 11th considering the 0th ) dimension, seeing as there are other universes and other possible timelines, these other universes can first be thought of as sheets to make it simpler to understand, then can be viewed as 4 dimensional 'blobs' that change over the lifespans of these universes.
Sorry if this is a bit over your head, I'm like an expert at this XD -
At copy pasting Wikipedia articles?
Lol jk -
Although if my understanding of the multiple worlds theory serves me right, its not to do with demensions as much as it is coexisting eventualities, outside the catalyzation of human cognition.
All psudeo science unfortunately... it is a cool thought though -
Antares NewbieHuh? No. I wrote thAT myself. (Tis Alek.)
Thats what the whole "all timelines" thing is about. It's needed to describe the theory of multiple or infinite universes. -
^Then he put "lol jk"
-
What's coexisting eventualities? I'd really appreciate it if you explain it in a way I'd understand @Slim
-
Its basically the fact that in another universe, I'm not typing this right now, but on space engine, and in another, right now I'm still sleeping, and in yet another I was never even born. They're all branches off our universe with different events, but all the physics and things are exactly the same.
