paigequizzy NewbieMy name is Paige. I don't really want to share any more "secret" information like my name, phone#, place of residency, or anything like that. I do want to change the world though. If you have any arguments, please post! also... I am new to this posting thing. HOW DO I POST ON "RECENT" CONVERSATIONS?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Anyway, I am also a follower of Christ. I really would like to have a conversation, so please reply!!!

"Because you are not perfect, you deserve punishment instead of love."
What is your opinion of the above sentence? -
Hi! I've beeen in church for a while so what would you like to talk about.
-
Bob, that sentence was constructed to manipulate the minds of people with its twisted wording.
anyone can twist the wording of a sentence, it takes a intellectual person to find fault in the original sentence head on.
What is the original sentence that you might be looking for? Here it is.
For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life. -
paigequizzy NewbieSorry I haven't replied!! I agree with free spirit. But to answer your question about my opinion, bob, I think that that was the "common sense" theory that many anti Christians have come up with. Why should a God that we Christians describe exist? Most things in this world aren't as wonderful and generous and... well I could go on for hours... as God. That's because He is OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!
Because God is so amazing and awesome and... you know what I'm getting at... he is unbelievable. By ourselves, that is. It takes the Holy Spirit to help us believe.
So if we believe, it makes sense for that sentence becomes untrue. It already is, but most people don't see it that way. -
Does the fact that a 15 year old with a desktop can construct an evolutionary tree from some genomes annoy you?
-
OnlyaGlitch Newbiehey, Is this the thread you were talking about paige?
-
paigequizzy Newbieyup!!! and geek I have no idea what you meant by that... I don't speak computer... sorry. can I assume that you are that 15 year old though?
-
The fact you do not understand what I said means several things about you.
They are:
You don't understand anything about biology.
You've never actually researched what evolution is.
Which means you haven't done your f---ing research. -
paigequizzy NewbieOk, first of all,
I do understand "anything" about biology. GUESS WHAT GENIUS- I'M IN 8th GRADE.
second of all,
Researching evolution would be pointless, seeing as it DID NOT HAPPEN, and further more, it is a pretty simple [fake] process, is it not?
And third of all,
I'm currently enrolled in SCHOOL and I'm on a swim team (which is like every other sport only holding your breath), so I don't really have a ton of spare ton to try to nullify human excuses for ourselves.
Please no cussing on my thread! thx! -
paigequizzy NewbieI mean, come on. How complicated can it be? A big explosion made bacteria grow in the water, and it became algae typed-stuff that slowly turned to fish- like creatures and bugs. But not all of it- some of it is the kind we see today. Some of the bugs evolved into different bugs, some of the fish turned to lizard- things, and some of THEM turned into birds, primates, canine/ feline things, and equine- animals. These founding fathers/mothers of earth slowly evolved until we had humans, horses, giraffes, several types of dogs and cats, and several types of birds. Oh, and then whatever had evolved STOPPED EVOLVING for no apparent reason. Very likely. Did I forget to mention that some of the evolved- from- monkeys have made it to the MOON? All of this was an accident. Totally.

18ferran11700 NoviceI have two things: If a supreme being did exsist, where did he come from? (he was just there is not valid beacuse the big bang just happened) and why does he/she/it allow inoccent people (ie children etc.) to die?
-
If you don't understand it enough to know what a genome is you don't know it much at all.
Researching other viewpoints (not much is needed) can lead to greater knowledge of others viewpoints and can also lead to the finding of a belief system which is preferred.
Evolution, as you pointed out (poorly), is simple. However you have several fundamental misunderstandings in your description of it. Evolution does not concern the origin of the universe or how life started. It concerns how there is so much diverse life and how it came to exist.
Evolution cannot be ruled out as impossible no matter what. Because errors happen. Not errors made by machines or human minds, but in the division of a cell. When the dna (or rna) is copied an error will sometimes happen and the data stored is different. This could be good for the lifeform (more attractive to mates, better virus resistance, stronger bones, etc) or bad (worse blood clotting, worse vision, etc). The lifeforms with bad traits die off or exist in small numbers while the lifeforms with good traits rise to the top. They live longers, get laid more, and most importantly reproduce more before they die than the other lifeform which got the bad traits.
There is no way to dispute these changes in DNA/RNA as there are numerous records recording changes in stuff like viruses which got mapped to figure out which animal transmitted it to humans.
And evolution hasn't stopped, it never slowed down. In most creatures that can be easily observed like humans it is incredibly slow.
Furthermore, evolution was not all an accident. As long as life exists and is given enough time it is statistically impossible that it would stay the same. It was however accidental that it evolved exactly how it did. -
paigequizzy NoviceGod is, was, and is to be. He didn't really come from anything. I can't explain that any more than Geek can explain WHY, HOW, WHEN, and WHERE the big bang started. He allows innocent people to die because it is part of his master plan. Remember the story of Joseph? His brothers sold him as a slave. They told their father of his "death". But, in the end, Joseph became the [second] most powerful man in Egypt. God had it all planned out.
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28 NIV
Some people are called to die. Some are called to preach His ministry. Some people are called to believe. Just remember that God loves all of His children the same. He even loves "bad" people, just not what they do. -
paigequizzy NoviceGeek, I don't agree with you, even though you used excellent, impressive reasoning. The fact that evolution hasn't stopped and is just extremely SLOW is a valid point... We've been around for who knows how long. Actually, only one person KNOWS for sure. You guessed it, God.
But as I mentioned in the above thread, God always has a plan. He knows which people will die being born or giving birth. He knows which people will die with (as you mentioned) imperfect dna. He even knew that you would be born * years in advance. He knew that I would have a baby sister. He knows whether or not you will get married, or if I will get married.
HE KNOWS EVERYTHING. I don't think my reasoning is half bad, either.
