Whenever you give your opinion.
I told this girl at school I wasn't Christian and she stared at me, pursed her lips and then like an arrogant oh holier than though b---- smiled a 'oh you poor girl' smile and said 'I'll pray your soul doesn't go to hell'
Like, what the hell. -
haha yeah o_e *Remembers when I used to do that to people* o.e
-
Is it just me, or are Christians obsessed with hell? Like every time you do something they don't like, it's to hell you go in a jolly little handbasket with a bowtie on it that has a cross in the middle.
It's almost like hell is a tactic used by Christians to bully other people.
The sick b------s. -
Who was it?
-
Exactly! It's ridiculous and annoying.
I'm not saying. -
im Christian, but iv never even said "hell". in fact,if you didnt ask, you would probably think i had no religion. :/ i dont go around blabbin about god or anything.
-
Why? =/

pityforsociety NewbieIn reality, not all Christians are 'obsessed with Hell'. Those are mostly the radical evangelists, which the media portrays as the representative of Christianity. It's not, really. I'm a Christian and I don't run around screaming "You're going to HELL!". No one that I know who's Christian does that. Doing that isn't very biblical, actually. The Bible says to evangelize with KINDNESS and truth, not RUDENESS and possible truths. Jesus was assertive when He spoke to the Pharissees, yes. Because he knew exactly what they were doing wrong. Most people shouting these things at you don't know exactly what you have ever done. Instead, Jesus was kind with the others He spoke to, and that's cause most treated Him with respect (at least at first). The poeple who yell this stuff at you don't even know if you are an atheist or a Christian; they can't tell the difference until you tell them. So if you see someone yelling stuff like or holding up a sign with "You're HELLBOUND!", walk up kindly and say "How can you say I am Hellbound, when you don't even know if I have accepted Jesus already or not?". Then walk away. That may help them to realize what they are doing, and maybe they can then adhere to what Christianity actually says about sharing the faith.

pityforsociety NewbieAlso a good way to look at it whenever someone says "I'll pray for you", is to know that they are thinking about you and wanting you to succeed because they care.
Appreciate the gesture and the care shown, even if you don't believe in prayer. -
Actually I've had non evangelical Christians tell me I'm going to hell because I'm atheist, on multiple occasions I may add. I've had someone preach to me the horrible things that are going to happen to me even though I don't believe in any of that stuff. I've also had people try to drag me into prayer circles to try and "save" my soul. On multiple occasions I've been told that I'm a bad person for not believing in god and the funny thing is that I'm more pure of a person than any of those people are. One of them has already had sex, one is gay (not saying you can't be gay and believe in god but its frowned upon in the Christian community) and may of them get drunk and go get high on a weekly basis. So please don't tell me thar I'm a bad person because I don't believe in sometimes that you do and then try t "rescue" me from the [i]horrible[/i ] life I'm living when you can't even stick to your religion.

For me, it kind of depends on what they are praying for. If it is for tornado victims or a family member who is in the hospital, prayer is appropriate. But don't pray for me because I choose to go without religion.
