First of all, the passage you are speaking of in Genesis has less to do with homosexuality and more to do with promiscuous sex. The verse you speak of is about Sodom and Gommorah if I am not mistaken. As for the verses in Leviticus, read the rest of that book. The laws of Leviticus are so ridiculously outdated that it should probably just be disregarded in its entirety. Lastly, the number of verses regarding nonhomosexual acts dwarfs the number of verses regarding homosexual acts.
So let us return to the message of Sodom and Gommorah. This is not a story about the evils of homosexuality, but rather the evils of lust, specifically throwing yourself at others without regard to emotion and without respect to the other person. The moral story is not "homosexuality is wrong and as a Christian you must do everything you can to stop it". The moral is that sexual relationships should never be entered into without respect between the two parties. Notice that I say respect and not love. I know it is typically said in Christianity that sex outside of marriage is sinful. I don't agree with that. I don't even agree that sex between two people who aren't in love is wrong. What is important is that you should never treat anyone as though they are merely a sexual object. Remember that anyone you seek to enter into a sexual relationship with is a human being to be treated with respect. This is my personal interpretation of S and G.
Like I said, Leviticus is garbage. Leviticus was used by slaveowners in the country to justify slavery. That's reason enough to throw the whole damn book out of the Bible. -
JesusIsTheWay Novice@I am pardon me what did I misspell please tell me and write the correction I would like to learn it. thank you :)

Tongue beat me to what I wanted to say.
The only thing else I have to say is that homosexuality has been well documented in over 500 species.
Homophobia exists in only one. -
@Ender When you stone a chick for not being a virgin before marriage then you have a right to make that argument.
Also, I'm not too sure about the other two passages because they haven't been presented in arguments as often as Leviticus, but here's why you should read the whole context of the book and not just a single passage.
If I remember that passage correctly, it's the one where it is said that a man cannot treat another man as if he were a woman. By just reading that passage, of course one would be led to believe that this means homosexuality, however, it does not. Also in Leviticus, there are many other rules about how man is to treat women. All of these rules basically state that women are property of men. The passage in Leviticus that you referred to means that a man is not to treat another man as property. In no way does it have anything to do with sexuality. -
And I found many places the UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION that say thathomosexuals are intitled to the same rights as heterosexuals

Just a little lesser known fact I'd like to throw out there, while the church is still against gay marriage, there is a letter that was written in 1997 entitled "Always Our Children" that explained how the church acknowledges that homosexuality is natural and that we should accept gay people. The church doesn't say that homosexuality is wrong, but that homosexual acts (such as sex between two people of the same gender) are wrong.
I'm completely for gay marriage and disagree on the church's standing that it is wrong to have homosexual relations. Just wanted to make that clear. -
The church's position is basically "it's okay to be gay so long as you stay in the closet".

More or less. You can't act on it. In all honesty, I think that saying somehow can't act on his or he sexuality is unnatural.
