RainInTheShadows NoviceSo, in the Old Testament of the Bible, it says God was sorry he made us (in the story of Noah's Ark). In the New Testament, it goes of telling us he loves us. WTF!?
-
Bipolar.

God loves us, but people turned too far away from Him and became completely evil, so He saved the good (Noah and His family) and killed the bad. Then time carried on and Noah's family had repopulated the earth. Eventually, God sent Jesus to die for us.
The thing is, people stopped caring about morals. They went about wrecking havoc and weren't at all sorry for it. If the world continued like that, would the human race even be here today? It will never be known for sure, but when you think about it, if people were wrecking havoc and completely evil, then they must of thought nothing of killing or stealing.
Also, before anyone says that's preposterous and such a flood has never happened, historians have actually concluded that since about every culture includes a great flood happening in their myths, legends, folklore, etc., that a worldwide flood probably did happen. Another important piece of evidence is the fact that there are fossils of sea creatures in unexpected places, such as mountains.
Fossils:
Stories:
Just some more evidence: -
- If both ice caps melted, every cloud turned in to rain, and every underground pocket of water surfaces, you still wouldn't have enough for a flood.
- It is however geologically documented that some of the larger seas in that area were formed when ocean walls collapsed and filled massive valleys. So that might be your flood.
-And mountains are formed by tectonic plates. Ground being forced up against itself. Sea life on mountains wouldn't be all that uncommon. Not to mention that if it were a flood, that there wouldn't be nearly enough sea life left on mountains after just 40 days for any verifiable amount of fossils to be found. On top of this, the fossils are found in different layers of the rock sediment. If it were a flood, they would all be on the same one as they all would have to have ended up there at the same time.
Rascal, none of your sources are reliable. Two of them are organizations and one of them is a generic website. Not to mention that all of them are religiously based and provide only the evidence that supports their claims. -
RainInTheShadows NoviceHATER :P
-
Hater? Which of us is a hater? Me for cracking a small joke (which I can understand your displeasure with)? The others for explaining their opinion?
-
(I'm having a really hard time finding websites that don't support creationism versus evolution, that's my problem. At least those don't say it.)
And while it is true that mountains form from tectonic plates, the Earth was probably flatter at the time. Also, I believe that a lot of the Bible is more symbolic than anything (not all of it, but a lot, especially in Genesis), so 40 days could have meant many years and the ark could have been an entire fleet of ships that became like a town on the water. (These are just my thoughts. I haven't found any supporting theories for this.) I mean, if they were smart enough to build aqueducts in Rome, why couldn't people be smart enough to make a town out of ships at a time when the earth was covered in water? -
I was referring to barberbob2. Sorry for the mix-up

Rascal, that's my issue with theism. You're picking and choosing what you want to take as literal and what you want to take as symbolic. That's no structure to base anything "factual" on and leaves you with a straw mans argument. This sounds less and less like the "infallible word of God" and more and more like a twisted story from 2,000 years ago, that peoples only defense for why they still listen to it is that some of it is supposed to be "symbolic".
Throw off your bronze age shackles, kid. You're better than this.
And rain, if you're going to call me names, you're going to have to be more creative than that. -
I wasn't technically calling you names. Now, creative would be calling you bad words in Irish, no? I'm not trying to start a fight, I'm, like, 13 1/2. I'm also very tired. I'm going to sleep.
-
I love how your age means you can do what you want.
-
Name calling, and then specifying that you were talking about a specific person usually warrants a rebuttle. I don't know you and I honestly don't care, so whatever. But don't go around calling people shizz if you're going to use your age as an excuse to not back yourself.
-
Yay, so if I cuss on here it doesn't matter? I'M FREEEEE!!! Yes! I'm just naturally rude, btw! Damn me all you want, mother-f---ers, 'cuz I'm talking like I do to that one chick! Whoa, that was probably not the best or nicest thing to say. I swear I try....I just can't be nice.

A thread for another day...

What the hell did I just get myself into. I just wanted to know that questions answer. I need to calm down.
