lilacodexed1234 Newbiei lost faith because i was put in a religious school when i was little and i got sht from both teachers and students
my sister and my mother both have tried to strangle me, my mother raving it was ok with god to do so
tell me, where is god in this? I'm on the edge of being athiest
thoughts, anyone? -
I see you're having troubles with religion. While I agree with your issues with monotheism, I do not believe that simply having bad experiences with religion should be the basis for your denial of a God. It can be the driving force behind you learning more and wanting to find the truth for yourself, but angst and a bad history should not be the only thing that compels you to leave.
-
If you don't do research for either your denial or belief in Gods existence you frankly don't deserve do have anoppinnion in your beliefs. Bob for example was christian if I remember his story right. He did some researcg and came to his own conclusion God didn't exist. Kevin Bidwelll a pastor I know IRL used to be atheist but from general revelation he saw a God must exist and now is a pastor.
If you do reseach your oppinnion is respected. If not expect to get bashed relentlessly. -
All I can say is that if there is a god, and that is a big if, someone who commits violence in his name does not speak for God. You mom and brother are basically hypocrites. I would say that you are more than justified for rejecting religion, and probably for rejecting God as well.
-
Let me get one thing straight, something like that would not be okay with God. If I were you, I'd report that.
Also, as previously suggested by others, do research and come to your own conclusion. -
That's child abuse. >.>
I agree with the notion to come to your own conclusion regardless- it's sad when someone beating you up is the only thing it takes to change your mind.
Although I've had plenty of rejections from churches and agree that organized religion is full of dicks. I hold spiritual/supernatural beliefs but there is not really a God that demands worship involved. There's an afterlife of sorts and a force controlling life and death...that's the oversimplified version of it anyway. It's what made sense to me though.
If believing in nothing makes sense to you, go for it. If believing in God makes sense, go for it. If believing in souls, afterlife, and reincarnation only makes sense, go for it. (Just don't be like your mother.) -
Appay, you literally just explained Jedism. (Starwars Force)

*headdesk*

-spiritual/supernatural beliefs
-No god
-afterlife
-FORCE
-controlling life and death
Sorry, but that literally is Jedism to a T. -
Well, that wasn't what I was going for, but I can see the resemblance and I think it's funny. XD
-
Appay, you are a Jedi O.O
Please, take me as your apprentice!
When you think about it, Jedism seems like a way better belief system than most of your organized religions today. -

Wonka NoviceCount it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, 3 for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. 4 And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
What this means is even if you have a hard time in this life, know that God is almighty. He gives difficult things in life so that we will turn to him. I hope this helps. :) -
not really. A for effort though.
