Thread Topic: I was told something today.
-
Mr. Garcia, being the teacher that tends to look into things do deeply that he'll reach the depths of hell on day, told me today that he had been observing something. He told me that he reached a theory of the three tops students in the grade, not necessarily just depending on the grades, but on their way of thought.
He said to me "You, Henry, and Dasha. I was thinking about the way you think."
((Of course he and I were discussing in Spanish. xP))
Then he told me what he had been noticing.
Dasha: If it doesn't work, destroy it. I won't leave evidence of the failure and start over again.
If I am told to be wrong, then that person is incorrect. There is no way I'm incorrect because I have confidence in my answer.
The things always have to be done. There is no excuse.
I can be superior if I try.
Henry: If it doesn't work, consider trying again. Somethings doing things the long way is successful. People noticing that I failed is a bit embarrassing.
If I am told to be wrong, I will defend my answer until I figure that I have failed. I want to be right, but sometimes it can't be like that.
A lot of the things can't be done, so I just shouldn't do them.
Being superior is something I want to work for, but I'm not sure if I'm so willing to do it.
Me: If it doesn't work, try to tweak the idea. Sometimes there are minor errors, and it's better to try to focus on those first. Failing isn't the best, but it happens.
If I'm told I'm wrong, I'll check both sides. Sometimes it's hard for me to tell if I'm right or wrong. I'll be wrong sometimes, and right sometimes as well.
Sometimes, things just can't be done due to circumstances.
You don't have to be superior. Being at the bottom is natural.
He said to me then "I'm not saying that one of these is the correct way to think. Think about it though, it was ordered on a level of confidence."
Confidence matters. It's always been something I've noticed in the other two, and it's something I've never really felt in myself.
"It's good to be a mix. It's not good to be too confident or too timid."
Of course, that's true too. I mean arrogance is a factor here too, and I don't mean to point fingers, but yeah.. i see it all the time from someone..
But not speaking up is bad too. Being timid and reluctant isn't acceptable.
"Now imagine, you three are from three different countries. What if everyone had the same attitude as you? How screwed up would the country be?"
Not sure where he was going, but I have a feeling is that it was to get the idea of how it's good to have a mix of those things..
"You see, over confidence and under confidence is a bad thing when it's only one of the two. When everyone in a country is over confident, nobody wants to work with them because they'll most likely be too pushy. When they're timid, people won't want to work with them because they're not really contributing. Also, procrastination isn't a desirable trait. Nobody wants to give their work load to someone who procrastinates."
Then finally he says "Given the way you think, it shows your personalities a lot. Dasha is more demanding and easy to frustrate. She works more than necessary. Henry is more laid back but he still is edgy about trying to prove himself correctly. Though, he procrastinates. With you, you're worried more about what the others will think about what you said. You work to please, and you work for a bit more than the minimum.
None of these are perfect personalities, as shown by the way you think. It depends on the ways the mind of yours work. Nobody, though, has perfect ways of thinking. But you can learn a lot from what people are like by watching the way you work."
Well.. ._. Maybe it was more interesting in Spanish and when I was actually told it, but this made me think for a long time.
Jesus, my music teacher thinks too much about things though. x'D
