An explanation
A couple weeks ago, I created a thread asking everyone to post their last lecture. I got a couple of very pleasant responses but the thread died before the week was over. I asked for the thread to live at least 1 week so I could have time to compose my last lecture. The thread died, and I never wrote it. But I guess I still owe you all one at least.
Have you ever heard the phrase, If theres an elephant in the room, then you should address it? Probably not, its a very old saying. But the point of it is, that if there is something important, that you need to acknowledge it. I have been here for 2 and a half years now and this place has meant the world to me. But even so, this may very well be my last lecture. I am in my last year of high school, GTQ. And whilst GTQ will always be in my heart, it is affecting my life. I have spent countless nights on here with friends. I remember when the soaps started. I remember older users. And I remember being happy. And for those memories, I thank you GTQ. This place has also made me an insomniac. And a mean one at that. (Hint: Thats the elephant)
My prophesy
I often used to tell people that when I left; that people would know in advance, that no one would miss me, and that no one would realize I had left until long after.
People would know in advance. This is your advanced warning. I want to finish out my third year on GTQ, and then I want to go.
No one would miss me. Most of you only know me for what I have become; An a--hole on the religion forum. And those of you who knew me before, usually dont even realize Im still here.
No one would realize I had left until long after. In the little more than 3 months Ill still be here, most of you will forget all about this thread. And thats okay. I want you to.
The last Lecture
I want it to be known that I dont hate any of you. If I did, I wouldnt fight so hard to reason with you. On that note, I also dont regret anything Ive done on here. And while some of you may see me for who I am now, you dont know me.
My name is James R. I am 17 year old senior in high school and I want to study psychology with my life. I am also an Atheist. And while that may play a part in my story, it is not the focal point of this speech. If anything, what I want to say has nothing to do with that.
As some of you are aware, I am a paranormal investigator; I hunt ghosts. The other week, we were called out to a private residence a few miles away. It was an elderly couple and their nephew living there, and they believed that they were being haunted by the grandfather. We pulled out our equipment and set up. We had the basics; night vision cameras, voice recorders, laser grids, full spectrum cameras, high sensitivity microphones, and etcetera. But we also brought a device called a ghost box. Its more of a toy really. It picks up random energy waves in the air, and produces words depending on the type of wave. We dont hold any credibility in it, but none the less, we had it out.
We began an EVP (electronic voice phenomenon) session and the family started asking questions while my team observed and recorded. We had a text book case with the Ghost box. The family would ask a question, and when it finally did say something, they would convince themselves of exactly what it said and they would believe that it was from their grandfather. I sat in a room for 3 hours holding a camera and watching the nephew, a grown man, break down crying because he believed he was talking to his grandpa. He shook and stuttered as he told the story of how he sat in the ER with him before he passed away.
After we finished the EVP, the aunt and uncle pulled me into the other room while the nephew calmed down and collected himself. They told me that he had actually been too late. His grandfather had died a few minutes before he got to the hospital and that they plugged the machines back in when he arrived. The nephew didnt know. They didnt want him to feel bad for not being there.
I sat there and listened to them tell me this and I realized something that I had forgotten long ago. In the end, all we have is happiness. To love, and to feel loved by the ones we love. Im not talking about romantic love; I mean a deeper love. One that we dont have a word for in our language. Its not given by any deity or spirit. Its not magical or mystical. Its something that all humans have and that we forget to exercise. Its a human love. So when I say that I love you all GTQ, dont think of it as a friendship or compassion. Those arent the right words for it. I love you all enough to try and see you better yourselves. I love you enough to make you want to hate me.
I may not always seem kind or caring. And I probably get on a lot of your nerves very often, but believe me when I say that I do it with a purpose. I cant say everything, because it would ruin the point. Even now Im not sure I should have mentioned that I wanted you to hate me, but I guess well just have to see.
GTQ, I once had a dream of seeing this site regain its innocence. That dream died a long time ago along with the old me. Now I simply want to see you all do good. There are no excuses, there are no limits. You are not your generation. You are not this website. You are not your favorite anime, or music. You are not your username. You are a human being. Do not make yourself into a 2 dimensional stereotype. Rise up and be more than people know what to do with. Think critically and do things for yourself. If theres something you dont understand, figure it out. Dont sit idly by and ignore it until the problem goes away. Make the most of your lives and remember; in the end, all we have is happiness.
Stay strong everyone.

Thank you for these kind words James. You will certainly be missed amongst GTQ.
Go and better other people's lives, but keep yours just as amazing, because you of all people deserve it the most.
The 'human love' you refer to is very inspirational, I shall feel the same way towards you and everyone I ever meet, thank you for teaching me that.
Have a wonderful and long life, all the best to you. -
And now this is giong to be a cloud over everyone's head. Conversations will grow somber. At least those who have read this and recognize Bob for who he is.
