Bye Bye, Miss American Pie...
Drove my Chevy to the Levee,
But the levee was dry.
And them good old boys were drinking whiskey and rye,
singing this will be the day that I die... -
Hey ting..
-
heylo
-
how are you?
-
aside from the usual, I'm pissed off at a friend, you?
-
nostalgic and melancholy. I believe I may be manic depressive. Because I always jump from really hyper and jumpy to like this...
-
Damn. D:
-
so who are you pissed at and why?
-
my friend abe
I was listening to a song a friend wrote, he said it wasn't 'real music' so as a fellow songwriter I got kinda pissed at him, mainly cause he used the phrase 'real music' (I don't like it, mainly cause the definition for real music is subjective.) -
If it has a regular rhythm to it and is meant to be performed for others, it is music. That still doesnt keep it from the scruitany of what is good music. But like you said, that's subjective. I personally believe that there are only 3 types of music that the artists should be really proud about.
Anyone can press a button on a machine or use auto tune. Rock, Metal, and country I can respect really well. Those are real instruments. And those are real voices. They dont have to fake anything or have to borrow talent from machines. Metal is stretching it because they amplify their works alot, but the sound still requires experience to produce.
Rap, hiphop, R&B, pop, techno, none of those require nearly as much effort or tallent as Metal, Rock, and country. And I dont even like country and I respect it more than those others.
But like you said, it's subjective. You may dissagree with what I'm saying, but this is my opinion. -
I agree completely actually, I'm just pissed cause he decided to be really rude about it :P
-
and it's also VERY hard to write songs.
-
Eh, I guess I'm prejudice. I've never had to write a song before, and when I get like this, I listen to oldies...
-
songwriting takes a lot of creativity because of the varying notes you can use, some might be already used so it gets really hard differing something you've already hard to something catchy and original you made up yourself in your head.
It's taken me a month, and I'm not even done the first verse for a song we're writing yet.
