I've left and come back here several times, exactly for that reason.
One of the things that keeps me here on GTQ is the size of the forum. GTQ isn't exactly the most famous site on the internet. There are tons of users who don't come in the forums and just use this site to take quizzes when they're bored, but there are only...probably not even 40 users in the forum. If you've never talked to a user, then you've at least seen their name once or twice. The last forum I found like this were the Roblox.com forums, although I left in '08 so I don't have the slightest clue as to what they're like now.
But whatever. This site isn't going to stay small forever. It sucks, but it isn't going to.
Plus, don't freak on me, because this isn't always true - but alot of the newbies who first come here have turned out to be trolls or spammers who have no respect for the other users. That's why GTQers are always so wary of newbies, because alot of them simply turn out to be bored 10-year-olds who don't have enough to do and pass time by spamming forums.
If a newbie intrudes a soap, they're going to be killed.
If an older user intrudes a soap, it kinda depends on who's in the soap, but they probably won't be screamed at.
Newbies should at least have a chance to prove what they're really like before being chased off the site. If they're making total idiots of themselves, I'd probably give them a month to shape up before letting the hounds loose on them. kwright was annoying as hell when I first met her, through lying about her age (She was 10, she said she was 15 :P) and a bunch of other crap. Same with foxdemon and crazygirl (Although fox wasn't as bad). They're all pretty awesome now.
Like Kish said (Before he left ;-;), I never saw "Old GTQ", and I often doubt it existed, but I know GTQ was better than it is now back when I first joined in March, then a crapload of users joined over the summer. My theory is that kids got bored during summer break and decided to join GTQ, but whatever. You get my point, GTQ.

The old gtq didn't have any of these fights, no one cared about anything, we just had parties and talked, there were no debates over nothing..maybe that's what changed?
